JOHN B. WEBB, book-keeper for the Black River Improvement Company; has been a 
resident of La Crosse since August, 1857. He is a native of Meriden, Conn.; 
came to Chicago in 1853, and from there to La Crosse in 1857. He enlisted in 
1861, in Co. B, 2d W. V. I., and was in the service three years. He returned 
to La Crosse in 1864, and has been in his present position since 1867.
