He came to La Crosse in 1855, and remained one year, and went to St. Louis, Mo., in 1856. He kept a hotel in St. Louis from 1858 till 1861, and came from there to La Crosse in 1864, and since that time has been in his present business. His present location is No. 18 Third street, where he keeps a general assortment of dry goods, groceries, boots and shoes, hats, caps, etc., and is also agent for the Weed Sewing Machine.
