He was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Buffalo City to Gustav and Elizabeth (Fluekiger) Burmeister. On June 17, 1942, he married Lillian Hendricks. Lester was a member of the United States Armed Forces, serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was employed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers as an Engineering Equipment Operator. For 25 years, he worked on the William A. Thompson Dredge in Fountain City, Wis. He is survived by two daughters, Carol L. (Robert) Duellman, Galesville, Susan (Jerry) Jumbeck, Winona, Minn.; three sons, Kenneth A. (Mary) Burmeister, Apple Valley, Minn., Richard L. (Susan A.) Burmeister, Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Lyle (Ann Dwyer) Burmeister, Madison, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace (Merlin) Heinemann, Cochrane, Wis.; three brothers, Adolph (Carmilla) Burmeister, Cochrane, Clifford (Inez) Burmeister, Buffalo City, Roger (Patti) Burmeister, Buffalo City; two sisters-in-law, Blanche Burmeister, Buffalo City, Arvilla Burmeister, Caledonia, Minn.; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Johnson, Baraboo, Wis. Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Lutheran Church, Cochrane, with The Rev. Paul J. Werner officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo City Public Cemetery.
