Ortloff EMAIL: thornpaw@gateway.net DATE: Dec 23, 1999 SURNAMES: Bardill, Krebs, Baumann, Stark, Hint, Keller The unexpected death of Mrs. Franciska Bardill, for many years a resident of this county, which occured at Minneapolis on Sunday Jan. 23 (1927)was briefly mentioned last week. Mrs Bardill, nee Franciska Krebs, was born Sept. 23, 1858 on a farm in Greenfield, LaCrosse Co. When a young girl she came to Buffalo Co. with her mother and for quite a number of years they made their home with the uncle of the deceased, Ignatz Krebs, on his farm in the town of Waumandee. Bardill who passed away many years ago--------) After the death of Ignatz Krebson July 11, 1908, Mrs Bardill came into possession of the farm and with the help of her children sucessfully managed and operated the place until about seven years ago. She then rented it to Herman Putz, who has been on the farm ever since, while she made her home with her children going from one to the other. Last September she went from the home of her daughter, Mrs George Baumann, in the town of Lincoln to spend the fall and winter with her son Oscar in Minneapolis, and it was there that she suffered a stroke early Sunday morning, JAn 23, and passed away shortley after at 5:15AM. She had been ill before that , but was apparently recovering. Mrs Bardill was a women who was much respected by those who knew her, for the courageous manner in which she undertook to bring up her children and conduct the farm, for her fair dealings always with her neighbors and for her devotion to her family. The funeral was held a Minneapolis on Tuesday Jan 26 from the Oscar Bardill home. Rev. Diehm of the Reformed Church at St. Paul conducted the services and the interment took placein Arcadia cemetary, Minneapolis. Deceased is survived by the following named children: Mrs Frank Keller and Louis C. Bardill of Cochrane, Mrs George Baumann of the town of Lincoln, and Oscar H. Bardill of Minneapolis. One daughter, Mrs John Hint of the town of Montana, died March 31, 1919, and another, Mrs Adolph Stark of Waumandee, died March 13, 1922. Three daughters and one son died in infancy.
