Former Resident Passes..... Helmuth Buehring passed away at his home in Platteville on Wednesday, May 29 at the age of nearly 80 years. He was for many years a resident of Onalaska, making his home with his sister, Mrs. Otto Struck, and was employed in the lumber mills here. Helmuth Buehring was born Aug. 6, 1860 at Pommerania, Germany, and came to America in 1884, coming directly to Onalaska where some of his relatives had already taken up their home. He lived here until 1922, since then making his home with his nephews, Ernest and Louis Struck, of Black Earth and Platteville respectively. For the past ten years he has been living with the latter nephew. He is survived by eleven nephews and nieces as follows: Ernest O. Struck, Black Earth, Wis., Louis A. Struck, Platteville, Wis., Mrs. Louise Comeau, La Crosse, Wis., Mrs. F. C. Vanderwater, Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Louis Otto, Sr., Onalaska, Wis., Mrs. C. J. Vance, Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Peter Hendrickson and William Buehring of Onalaska, Wis., Mrs. John Benson, Eagle River, Wis., Mrs. Vincent Burns, Sparta, Wis., and Mrs. Ole Hallingstad, Spokane, Wash. Funeral services were held at the Smith funeral home in Onalaska last Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Walter Paustian officiating. Singers and flower girls were Mervonne Gilbert, Dolyce Otto, Betty Phelps and Marilyn Otto. The pall bearers were Emil Christopherson, John Huecker, Earl Johnson, Herbert Otto, William Otto and Louis Otto, Jr. Interment was made in the Onalaska cemetery. Those from a distance who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. A.. Struck, son and two daughters of Platteville; and Ernest O. Struck of Black Earth.
