She was born March 13, 1925 in Mindoro, Wisconsin to Raymond and Katherine (Bottjer) Schleifer. She married Le Roy Harnisch in 1942, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1971. Margaret grew up in the Burr Oak area, near Mindoro, and formerly worked at Outer's in Onalaska during the war, and later with her husband, owned Lee and Mug's Restaurant in Bangor and Onalaska. She later became a real estate broker, and was formerly associated with the United Farm Agency, Wheeler, and Weber realty agencies, until her retirement, in 1993. She was a member of the Onalaska Chapter #249 Order of Eastern Star, and Wisconsin Board of Realtors. She is survived by three sons, James Le Roy (Julie) Harnisch of Eau Claire, Thomas William (Pam) Harnisch of Neillsville, and David Henry (Carol) of Tomah; seven grandchildren; one great-grandaughter; two brothers Robert (Joe Ann) Schleifer of Onalaska, Lyle (Sylvia) Schleifer of Janesville; three sisters, Delores (R.G.) Nicholson of La Crosse, Violet Sterling of Blaine, Washington, and Sharon (Everett) Waldenberger of Holmen; two sisters-in-law, Glendora Schleifer of South Beloit, Illinois, Dena Schleifer Landry of Mindoro. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Ellsworth Schleifer and Raymond Schleifer (Jr.). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 1997 at the United Methodist Church in Onalaska. Rev. Jeff Hoch will officiate. Burial will be in the Onalaska Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fossum Funeral Home in Onalaska from 4 till 8 p.m. on Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Star service to be held at the funeral home; and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. till time of services.
