The area is in the Township of Moscow, Iowa County. Prentiss M. Baker, great-grandfather of the present Douglas and Dr. F. Wilson Baker, platted a piece of his farmland and sold lots. Cows once roamed in a pasture that later became the Dr. F. Wilson Baker property. Baker Street and Wilson Street have family names.
