A big tent was set up on Methodist Hill for a week during the summer. Each day new talent came to town for an afternoon and an evening performance during which they entertained, inspired and educated, thus presenting Chautauqua's culture under canvas. Children received a bonus during the morning hours when young women called Junior Leaders, working with the Chautauqua, provided the first organized play activities that many boys and girls ever enjoyed outside of school. There were ticket hunts for the purpose of free admission and plans were made for the parade which preceded the first Chautauqua peformances. Note: Winter Chautauqua (1925) Season tickets for sale at Hotel Blanchard for $1.00 Season tickets for children 50 cents Remember the dates Nov. 25-26-27-28-29 at Steensland-Mason's Hall Additional Comments: Extracted from A History of Blanchardville, Gem of the Pecatonica File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/wi/lafayette/history/1976/ahistory/chautauq265gms.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/wifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
