Succeeding dentists were Dr. W. D. Tickner, Dr. F. S. Waite, Dr. Nitardy, Dr. G. A. Rienke, Dr. W. N. Bailey, Dr. S. Bakke, Dr. N. A. Nelson and Dr. L. Allen. Dr. W. D. Tickner Dr. Tickner, his wife and three children, Louis, Henry and Cora moved from Milton Junction to Blanchardville in 1900. He practiced dentistry here until he was called into the ministry. Dr. W. N. Bailey Dr. Bailey, 63, passed away at his home in Madison, Wisconsin, on Dec. 9, 1935 after a short illness of influenza. He was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and practiced dentistry in Blanchardville, Brooklyn, Sun Prairie and Cadott. Dr. Bailey came to Blanchardville from Cadott. He had a temporary dental office in the Ryan Hotel until his office rooms were ready for occupancy in the H. H. Marshall Building. Dr. and Mrs. Bailey had one son, Thurman. Dr. Simon Bakke Dr. Bakke was born at DeForest, Wisconsin on Dec. 27, 1882 and passed away at Madison, Wisconsin in 1962 at the age of 80 years. He practiced dentistry in Blanchardville and also in DeForest, Wisconsin. Dr. Bakke married Gladys Connors of DeForest. Three sons were born to this union: James, John, and Dr. Knight Bakke, a dentist. Dr. Leslie Allen Dr. Leslie R. Allen, 64, native of Argyle, Wisconsin, who served as Professor of Dentistry at the University of Alabama, died Feb. 16, 1976, at Birmingham, Alabama where he resided. The son of the late Cyrus and Hattie McGranahan Allen of Argyle, he was graduated from Argyle High School .in 1930 and from the College of Liberal Arts of Marquette University and the School of Dentistry in 1936. He practiced dentistry in Milwaukee and Blanchardville until July of 1942 when he entered the U. S. Army. During his Air Force career, he served in Japan and Washington, D. C. He retired from active service in December of 1964 and accepted an appointment as Associate Professor of Dentistry in the Prosthetic Department of the School of Dentistry, University of Alabama until his appointment to the Dental School of Louisiana State University in New Orleans, as Professor and Head of the Department of Prosthodontics in 1968. Dr. Allen was married to the former Dorothy J. Grundmann of Milwaukee in 1932, who survives, as well as a brother, John W. Allen. Dr. N. A. Nelson Dr. Nelson, a native of Chicago, became an avid baseball player and "fan" at an early age and has been an excellent tennis player. He possesses much musical ability, with a penchant for the violin. Dr. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Dental School (December, 1931). The following summer he passed the Wisconsin State Board examination. He set up practice in August, 1932, in Blanchardville. He has survived the depression of the thirties, the World War II years and is now bucking the inflation of the seventies. He and his wife, Edna, enjoy living in a small community.
