Gurley, who was a Colonel in the "War For Independence" (Civil War). The flag is owned by the Blake family. The first Grand Army Post was organized at Decatur, Illinois, April 1, 1866. On June 1, 1866, the Cassius Fairchild Post No. 1 of Madison, was the first post to be organized in Wisconsin. Then many more posts were organized.
