The officers the first year were Alfred Zimmerman, Pres.; Richard Retrum, Vice Pres.; Suanne Zimmerman, Sec-Treas., and John Meade, Trail Master. The board of directors were Chuck Putney, Doug Baker and Tim Ryan. It was originally a group of about a dozen people who realized the need for a club in the area. They wanted to make trails and maintain them so that they could have the enjoyment of going different places. Another reason for the club was to stimulate and advance the general welfare of snowmobiling, to serve the interests of snowmobile owners and to perform all desirable and lawful functions for the successful operation of the club and in the general public interest. They try to assist in the protection of private and public lands from destruction and littering by the use of the snowmobile. The Snow Chiefs meet from October through April (one night each month). They try to hold one activity a month besides the meeting — snow permitting — either a family day or a trail ride at night. In five years the club has seen some changes. Now there are forty-five families as members. This year was one of the busiest as far as trail maintenance since many bridges were built, including one across the Pecatonica River. Present officers are Werner Ryser, Pres.; Gordy Larson, Vice Pres.; Rita Moen, Sec; Barb Ryan, Treas., and Paul Hughes, Trail Master. Directors are Richard Retrum, Tim Ryan and Gary Jeglum. Active membership is available to all snowmobile owners and enthusiasts in Blanchardville and rural area.
