W. Noble Dr. Trickel Dr. F. Wilson Baker Dr. George Noble Dr. and Mrs. Noble came from Monroe, Wisconsin to Blanchardville in 1902. With the exception of two years spent in Chicago, they lived here continuously until they moved to California in 1927. He enjoyed an extensive veterinary practice and also manufactured and retailed medicines. Dr. Noble contracted for road construction and one of his endeavors was the stretch of road from the Blue Ribbon Cheese Factory (Lageson's) to the present Raymond Haugen farm. He proved his ability as a builder of more than ordinary note, having erected eight fine homes and re-arranged and modernized several business locations. The Nobles became the parents of four children: Margaret, Gertrude, Frank and George. Dr. F. Wilson Baker Dr. F. Wilson Baker is Blanchardville's only veterinarian in 1976. He is a member of the fifth generation of Bakers in this area; his great-great-grandparents, the Josiah Bakers, settled near what is now Blanchardville in 1854. Dr. Baker, son of Doris Parkinson and Dwight Baker, grew up on the family farm near Blanchardville where his brother, Douglas, now resides. He attended the Blanchardville grade and high schools, majored in Bacteriology in his pre-vet studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and received his D.V.M. degree from the College of Veterinary Science at Texas A & M. He served three years in the Army Veterinary Corp in World War II and was discharged with the rank of Captain in 1946. In October of that year he opened his practice in Blanchardville. Through the years he has been ably assisted in his office by his wife, the former Isabel McDowell of Waupun, Wisconsin. They reside in the old home of his grandmother, Frances Baker, where their five children were reared: Dwight, an attorney at Blackfoot, Idaho; Dr. James, pediatric allergist at Portland, Oregon; Bruce, farmer near Blanchardville; Dr. Beth, intern at Framingham, Mass., and Robert, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
