Obituary: Lafayette County, Wisconsin: Alice DIXON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Alice Rhodes was born in Benton, Lafayette county, Wis., March 17, 1851, and died October 12, 1915. She was married to Jas. Dixon at the age of 18, and to them were born seven boys and one girl. The father and three of her children passed from this life before the mother. Mrs. Dixon moved to Evansville in 1896, for the purpose of educating her children in the seminary, where she lived until about five years ago, when her health failed, and since that time she had been living with her children. She was a woman of more than ordinary strength of character and high ideal of christian life. A faithful member of the Free Methodist church, for many years, she had been an ardent advocate of deeper things in spiritual life and service. Her many friends in this community are stricken with sadness and rise up with her children to call her memory blessed. She died at the home of her son in Magnolia, where a short service was conducted by the writer. And from there the remains were taken to Benton, the place of her birth, where further services were held and interment was made by the side of her husband, children and parents. G. W. Endicott.
