Heckert, 65 of the town of Norwood who died Thursday will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the McCanglee-Zobel & Bradley Funeral Home. The Rev. J. Gordon Bennett of the Congregational Church will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. The deceased was born April 3, 1897 in Guthrie County, Iowa, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Heckert. In 1903 his parents located on a farm in the town of Rolling. Later he logged and operated a farm in the town. For 20 years prior to retirement in April of this year, he was employed by a Milwaukee canning company. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Heckert served with the army from enlistment Sep 7, 1918 until discharge Jan 14, 1919. He was married to Martha Leitl Feb 23, 1920 in Antigo. The couple resided in the town of Norwood for many years. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter and four sons, Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Duchoc, Allen, Clyde, and Vilas, all of Milwaukee, and Emerald of Deerbrook. Also surviving are a sister and three brothers, Mrs. Delbert McRillis of Beloit, Ernest of Delavan, Howard of Antigo and Elmer of Elkhorn; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son died in infancy. Also predeceased is a brother Roy.
