Old Catholic tombstones are amongst the brush and trees to the west of this little road. Additional Comments: Greenwood Cemetery is located on the corner of County Rd U and Greenwood Road just north of Tomahawk, WI. Latitude: 45.5075 Longitude: -89.725. Greenwood Cemetery is a beautiful cemetery sectioned off by street signs. 17th Avenue runs north and south at the back of the cemetery. It borders the cemetery and separates the neatly manicured cemetery from a small area of trees, brush and overgrowth at the far west end. Hidden away in this little section of trees and overgrowth are several old tombstones that few today ever knew existed or barely remember. The tombstones are what remain of an old Catholic section of Greenwood Cemetery. In 1963, the church moved most of the graves to its new cemetery located on County S (name of church and cemetery is unknown at this time). Some families didn’t want their loved ones moved and some could not afford to have them moved and so they were left behind. Occasionally local organizations have lent volunteer time and energy to clear away fallen limbs and new tree growth that slowly chock off the old fading tombstones.
