School districts were organized in various communities and numbered successively while various townships were being carved out of the original Maple Grove area. That explains why the present Reedsville school district was once designated Maple Grove Joint No. 10. Districts organized in Maple Grove after it became a township by itself in 1856 were number 4 and number 5.
