HILLMAN DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME SATURDAY DEATH DUE TO STROKE, RESIDED IN NORWALK FOR SEVEN YEARS. Again we are called upon to chronicle, this week, the sad and untimely death of a former citizen of Norwalk, Rev. O.A. Hillman who passed away at his home in Reedsville, Wis., Saturday evening, Dec. 11, 1937. Rev. Hillman was in good health and on Saturday he went about his usual duties, unaware that his time on this earht was near at hand. After the evening meal on Saturday he took his papers and was reading when suddenly he slumped in his chair, dead. The cause of his death was given as a stroke. Rev. Hillman was pastor of the Norwalk Evangelical church church for seven years leaving here in 1933 for Reedsville, Wis., where he spent his last days. During his stay in Norwalk he made many friends in his parish as well as out side of his parish and whas thought very highly of by all who know him. And we wish to extend heart felt sympathy to hsi bereaved family and friends in their great loss. Rev. Otto August Hillman, son of Emelie and August Hillmann, was born March 6, 1876 in the Town of Rantoul, Calumet county, Wisconsin. At the age of 19 years he attended the Academy at Naperville and later the college. In 1904 he received his licsence to preach and was appointed as assistant to Rev. F. Siewart on Brandon and Beaver Dam circuit where he served two years. In 1906 he was ordained as deacon and received into the itinerancy and in 1908 he was ordained as elder. He was married in 1906 to Miss Isabella Ehrhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ehrhardt and to this union were born two sons, Earl and Charles. together Rev. Hillman and his wife served the following fields: Mazomanie, 4 years; Marshfield 5 years; Eau Claire 6 years; Monona 6 years; Norwalk 7 years; and Reedsville his last appointment three years and almost seven months. He leaves to mourn his loss a faithful companion, two sons Earl and his wife and their young son Russel and daughter Maxine of Monona, Iowa and Charles, a senior at North Central College at Naperville. Four brothers preceded him in death, surviving are one brother, Rev. W.J. Hillmann of Spades, Ind. and one sister Mrs. J. A. Schneller of Neeenah, wife of the deceased Rev. Jacob Schneller. Rev. Hillmann was a devoted father and husband, whose concern for wife and children always lay heavily on his heart, which every member of the family will always remember. And in his ministery he was modest and faithful to the Lord and church he loved. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 15, from the Evangelical church at Norwalk with Rev Mehn officiating, and assisted by Rev. W. Schuelke who gave the prayer and Rev. Trautmann who gave the sermon and whose text was Matth 25:23. Six ministers Reverends Mehn, Maechtle, Boetcher, Schulke, Rabe, and Trautmann acted as pallbearers. Severa Stecker and Mrs. Herbert Giraud, assisted by Mrs. Ray Zimmerman at the piano sang.
