There were born to this union eight children, two of whom died in infancy. He left Germany with his family in 1878, and came to Chicago, living there for fourteen years. In the spring of 1892 they came to Adams county, Wisconsin, first living upon the property now known as Jordan Lake farm, and later purchased a farm about two miles west of Oxford where the family resided for the last 24 years. On Saturday he together with his family attended a party given by Ole BORENSON. Through the evening he felt as well as usual and did not return home until early Sunday morning. After caring for the horses he went to the house and was stricken with paralysis and only lived until 7:30 a.m. Sunday, July 15, 1917. Services were held at one o’clock on Tuesday at the house and the remains were then taken to the Oxford Lutheran church.
