Laverence was born in Germany, October 1850, and in the year 1879 was married to Antona Strich. To this union eight children were born--three sons and five daughters, all of whom are living; the wife and mother having passed away Feb. 8, 1920. In 1880 Mr. and Mrs. Laverence came to America, settling at Packwaukee, and later moving to Coloma, where they lived the greater part of the time. Shortly after the death of his wife, Mr. Laverence came to Montello and made his home with his son Richard, where he died February 8, 1925. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church, Rev. Hartwig officiating, and the remains were taken to Coloma for interment. He is survived by his children, one brother and near relatives.
