Jacoby, a railroad employee was run down and almost instantly killed by a switch engine, early Tuesday morning, August 6, 1912, near Merill station at Milwaukee. Nic F. Jacoby was born the 29th day of March, 1870 and was 42 years, 4 months and 8 days of age. He was born and raised at Dacada. One Jan. 26, 1899 he was united in matrimony to Miss Margaret Roob. Rev. F.C. Ryan of St. Mathews church, Milwaukee, united them. They were blessed with eight children of whom one daughter Mamie preceded her father in death. He is survived by his wife and seven children, of whom the oldest one is nearly 13 years and the baby four months old. On Thursday morning at 10:30 his remains were taken to the St. Mathews church at Milwaukee, where Rev. Fr. F.C.Ryan held a requiem mass for the deceased after which his remains were taken to the C & N.W. depot and sent out to Belgium. From there they were taken to the home of his brother Henry and on Friday morning at 10 o’clock the funeral was held at the St. Nicholas church.
