Mazurkiewicz died Friday of liver cancer at his South Side home. Mazurkiewicz, a Milwaukee native, came from a family of police officers and firefighters. He joined the Fire Department in 1937, was promoted to Lieutenant in 1948 and to Captain in 1960. By the time of his retirement in 1975, he was captain of the old fireboat Deluge. He was a member of the St. Jude's League, the Retired Firemen's and Policemen's Association, and the Concerned Hearts Association. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three daughters, Sandy Grosz, Greendale, and Barbara Sarenac, and Janice Lefabvre, both of Milwaukee; a sister Lucille Bieniewski, Milwaukee; and two brothers, John and Chester, both of Milwaukee. The body will be at Walloch Funeral Home, 4309 S. 20th St., after 4 pm Monday. Burial will be at St. Adalberts Cemetery.
