Will of Christoph Herzog, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin,  3 Aug 1885

I Christoph Herzog, of the town of Granville, in the county of Milwaukee, 
Wisconsin, being of sound mind & memory & mindful of theuncertainties of 
human life do make publish & declare this to be my last will & testament 
in manner & from following to wit.

1st, After the payment of all my just debts & funeral expenses & the expenses 
of administration on my estate, I give devise & bequeath to my beloved 
wife Johanna Christina all my estate both real & personal of which I may 
be in popepion at the time of my decease for her own use & benefit forever.

2nd, It is my wish & will that my son Fredrick Herzog shall retain popepion 
of the part of the real estate on which his house at present stands. So long 
as he shall pay to my said wife Johanna Christina, the annual rent of five 
dollars & shall not himself (nor any of his family to) conduct himself in an unbecoming manner towards my said wife.

3rd, I herby nominate & appoint my said wife Johanna Christina to be the 
Executrix of this my last will & testament & authorize her to compromise, 
compound, & settle any claim, or demand in favor or against my estate.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this 3rd day of 
August. AD 1885.

The above instrument, consisting of one sheet, was on the day of the date 
thereof, signed, published, and declared by the said testator, to be his 
will & testament in the presence of us who have singed our names at his 
request, as witness, in his presence and in  presence of each other.
