MRS JENNIE WEYMOUTH SO ST PAUL ,Minn HIGH SCHOOL NOTES The first public meeting of the literary society of out high school was held last Monday evening. The chief feature was a debate. When B J CASSELS, leader of the affirmative side, arose to open the debate, a murmur of expectation arose from the packed house, like a gentle summer breeze before a thunder storm, and such it proved to be . A perfect thunder of words hurled against the tympanums of his hearers. MISS CORA SCHRAEDER of the negative side next arose and brought out some very strong points in favor of her side followed by MAUD BELL of the affirmative side. ALFRED SCHULTZ presented a strong argument for the negative and GENE HANCOCK followed him assailing the negative side with a fury that proved fatal to his opponents ORPHA WOODARD of the negative side next got upon the floor and the vim with which she presented her argument increased the respect of everyone for her side. MAY SCOTT next arose and scored severalppoints for the affirmative, and when the invincible CASSELS arose to close the debate it took him just 3 minutes to win the judges over to his side. The violin solo by EUGENE HANCOCK was fine.
