WALZ, 73, HELD IN NORWALK Funeral services for Gustave Adolph Walz, 73, who died Sunday evening at the Sparta hospital were held Wednesday afternoon at the Norwalk Evangelical church, wth the Rev. C.E Olsen officiation. Mr. Walz had been ill several months. Mr. Walz was the son of John and Marie Walz. He was born on the home farm near Norwalk April 18, 1871. He attended Norwalk village school and spent his boyhood on the farm. He later was employed by the Northwestern Railroad as a construction worker. He was married in 1926 to Emma Downs in Chicago. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Walz died in 1941 and because of failing health Gustave Walz returned to the Norwalk farm in August 1943, to be near his brothers and sisters. Mr. Walz is survived by two sisters, mrs. Alvina Haldeman and Mrs. Sophia Sinner of Norwalk; two brothers, George A. Walz and Sam E. Walz of Norwalk and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ethel Burnhardt of Atlantic City, NY. Pallbearers were William Vieth, Charles Vieth, Christ Pfuhl, Arno Zimmerman, Herman Oldenberg and Ernest Brandau. Mr Walz had been a member of the Evangelical church for many years.
