Submitted by: Beverly Weddle 19:52 08/17/1999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ERDMANN The Erdmann Family of Abrams and Brookside August 11, 1999 John (Johann) Carl Frederick Erdmann married Johanna (Minnie) Wilhelmina Broetzmann . They are believed to have married in 1858. They came to the US on April 19, 1861 to New York from Hamburg aboard the "Bavaria" with son Heinrich, age 2. The passenger lists puts them as being from Zimmerhausen, Pommerania, Prussia. Johanna was expecting their second child, Frederick, who was born in Concord, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. In Concord John and Johanna had several more children; Fred, Frank, Bertha, Albert, Ida, Anna, Martha, Johanna, Louie, and William. The family lived in Concord until about 1884 when they moved to Abrams, Oconto County Wisconsin. In Abrams they lived above a hardware store. The children all met their spouses and married in the area. The following are several of their married surnames: ERDMANN, BOHL, BERKHOLZ, LEFFINGWELL, LOHFF, STREGE, GUNDLOCK, UTECH. The family was Lutheran and attended a church in Brookside. Today most of the family is buried in Brookside Cementary.
