F. Fuller Bertha A. Strong. SINCE these notices of deceased members were printed, death has removed from our membership another of our most reliable workers, Miss Bertha Ann Strong. Miss Strong's life work has been that of a public-school teacher, nearly all of which she has given to the schools in this city, serving in one locality over twenty-seven years, where her eminent fitness for the work was fully appreciated. She prepared for her calling at Lawrence university and at the State Normal school at Oshkosh. She united with the church "on confession of faith" April 1st, 1866, and at once engaged in the church activities with a loyalty well worthy of emulation. While she was always interested in the various departments of the church, she specially devoted her strength to the Sunday school, entering it at the outset as a teacher and remaining in it almost continually, a prominent and faithful servant of the Master till the close of her life, Nov. 17th, 1900, over thirty-four years. Beside doing excellent work as a teacher, she was of great service on various committees, more particularly those with reference to the library, where her judgment was of great value. She was a constant attendant upon the mid-week service, and was in her place in church and Sunday school on the Sunday preceding her death. In her departure the church and the Sunday school lose a valuable and efficient member, but realize that their loss is as nothing compared with her great gain.
