This corner's career began with Charles Fantl meat packing. It was R.D. Fisher General Merchandise Store from 1893 to 1919. Several people tried unsuccessfully to run a hardware store in this location until 1935. Success at last! Allen Gunderson opened a hardware store in the building called Allen G. Hardware. He remodeled in '44 and poor health forced him to sell to Elmer Johnson Oct. 11, 1966. Elmer's son Richard joined him in business July 1, 1975. Sportsman's Bar & Food Originally the Morse Hotel. During 1920-1928 it was the Payton Brothers recreation center. From 1928-60 it had a succession of owners namely Norvil Hiller, Jim McLaughlin and Pete Thomas and Basil Kruzick. When Dale Nichols took over he remodeled and added a dining room. Dick Hungerford bought the business in 1975. Suprise Restaurant. Shiocton Mrs. Sherman Rollo opened a restaurant in the Boynton Block in 1934. She sold to Mrs. Desmonde Steede in 1938. Mrs. Kenneth Morse took over the business in 1945 and remodeled. In 1947 Ed and Irene King ran the restaurant; remodeled in 1948 and sold to Lawrence Roberts in 1951. Veryle Suprise bought the business in 1957.
