Dr. Robert Leith of Oshkosh was to remove to Appleton, and associate himself with Dr. Ellsworth. Henry verwey returned from the Eagle River country where he had been guiding. For a few days he joined in the search for Dr. Dixon, supposed to be lost in the woods. Prof. H. A. Jones was under the weather. Prof. I. N. Stewart returned from Madison where he had been busied for some time in the office of State Supt. Wells. The coroner's jury in the case of the Willy & Co. Boiler explosion reached the verdict that "said explsoion was caused by the foaming of the water in said boiler, and consequent formation of gas; and that no blame can be attached to anyone." Announcements were received of the marriage at Worcester, Mass., of Miss Mary Davis to Dr. L. A. Jones, formerly of Appleton. Chancellor Commander F. Wm. B. Rahn was presented with a beautiful Pythian jewel by the lodge, the presentation being made by Prof. F. E. McGovern. The Outagamie County Fish & Game Protective Association was formed with the following officers: President, G. F. Peabody; vice president, D. Fox; secretary, S. J. Ryan; treasurer, H. G. Freeman; additional directors, W. L. Conkey, Jas. McCabe, G. M. Miller. Thirty-one signed the membership roll. John M. baer was nominated by the president to be postmaster at Appleton and his name sent to the senate.
