The Marston - Hoeper Wedding We are indebted to the Wausau Record-Herald for the subjoined account of the marriage last Tuesday of Joseph H. Marston Jr., of Appleton and Miss Ruth Alice Hoeper of Wausa, which is described by those present as having been a remarkably pretty and brilliant affair. Appleton people will recognize the names of several of young ladies bentioned as having been former students at Lawrence college. The Wausau Record-Herald says: :The marriage of Miss Ruth Alice Hoeper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Hoeper, to Joseph Hilton Marston, Jr., of Appleton, tok place Tuesday evening at eight o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, 816 Fourth street. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ricahrd Evans in the presence of relatives and immediate friends. The service was read in the living room in front of the fireplace which was banked with ferns and palms. About the rooms a color scheme of pink and white was used. The bride was exquisitely gowned in cream satin from her mother's trousseau with an overdrape of silk net embroidered in silver and pearl trimming. Her long tulle veil was caught in cap effect with orange blossoms and she carried a shower bouquet of orchards and Ophelia roses. The maid of honor, Miss Gertrude Detjen of Algoma, was gowned in orchard metalcloth with an overdrape of net, the bodice being embroidered in silver. She carried an arm bouquet of roses and sweet peas. Miss Bernice Towle and Miss Florence Wilson were the bridemaids. The former wore pink satin with silver bodice and the latter blue silver cloth with an overdrape of cerise and blue tulle and a back panel of beads and brilliants. They carried roses and sweet peas. The ribbon bearers were Miss Marie Paff, who wore rose taffeta and silver lace, Miss Gretchen Morgan, in orchard satain with a bodice of silver and tulle, Miss Gladys Schilling, in lavender tulle over lavender satin, Miss Norma Edmonds, in pale blue satin draped with tulle, and Miss Helen Dingee in pink tulle over silver. William Kolb of Appleton was the best man and Albert Eugene Hoeper, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. Miss Irene Lee of Chicago played the Mendelssohn wedding march as the bridal party entered. An orchestra furnished music after the ceremony and a light lunch was served the guests. "Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Marston, Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Tippet, Miss Veronica Green, of Appleton; mr. and Mrs. Leland Marston, Memphis, Tenn.; Miss Ethelyn Lindley, Chicago; Miss Gertrude Hoeper, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Miss Gertrude Detjen, Algoma; Miss Irene Lee, Chicago; Kenneth Lawson, Menasha; William Kolb, Appleton. "Mr. and Mrs. Marston will spend a short time at Chicago and Minneapolis and upon their return will be at home to their friends after February 15, at 775 Lawrence street, Appleton." New Year Party Miss Irene Morse entertained a number of friends at a New Year's eve party at her home on College avenue. Dancing was enjoyed. Joint Installation Koemic Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Rebekahs will hold a joint installation at Konemic hall next Monday night. The ceremony will be followed by supper and a social. Konemic Lodge officers are: Noble grand, Alfred F. Henry; vice grand, Dr. A. E. Briggs; recording secretary, F. J. Harriman; financial secretary. D. c. Taylor; treasurer, C. C. Clack. The installing officer will be W. H. Burns. Birthday Club Entertained Mr. and Mrs. George Steidl entertained the Birthday club at cards at their home on Lawe street, New Year's eve. The prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Sanders and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seeger. Entertained at Milwaukee Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schweitzer and daughter, Miss Alberta Schweitzer were at Milwaukee over New Years, where Miss Elsie Wallbers entertained for Miss Schweitzer. The two young ladies are students at St. Mary college at Prairie du Chien. Merry Club Meets Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rehlender entertained the Merry Club at their home Wednesday evening. Prizes at cards were awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walters and Mr. Arthur Schroeder. The club will be entertained next week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schroeder, Second avenue. Richard Patterso to Wed The marriage of Richard A. Patterson, son of Mrs. W. S. Patterson, Leminawah street, and Miss Louise Stimson of Cheyenne, Wyo., formerly a student in Lawrence conservatory, will take place January 7 at the home of the bride in Cheyenne, it was announced this morning. Mrs. Patterson and sons Jack and Robert leave tonight for Cheyenne. Robert will be best man at the wedding. Following the ceremony Mrs. Patterson and son Jack will go to California to spend the winter. Miss Stimson attended college here about three years ago. She is a cousin of J. E. H. Stimson. The young people will live in Wausau. Marriage License Walter O. Oesterreich and Amy E. Gottfried have the distinctio nof making application for the first marriage license to be issued this year. They both reside in Appleton and made application at the county clerk's office at ten o'clock this morning. Entertain for Nephews Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tank of 780 Lake street, entertained at a card party Wednesday evening for the pleasure of their nephews, Max and Ernest Tank of Amboy, Minn. About 25 guests were in attendance. Prizes were won by Paul Tank, herman Ecker and Mrs. Stanley Bolin. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Tank, Walter, Paul, Emil and Lena Tank of Harrison. Fulcer-Feavel Wedding Miss Alice Fulcer, daughter of mr. and Mrs. Charles Fulcer and Chester Feavel, also of Appleton, were married at 11 o'clock Thursday morning by Dr. H. E. Peabody, at the parsonage of Conregational church. Mrs. Olive Karns, the bride's sister, and Walter Feavel, brother of the groom, attended the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Feavel left on a wedding trip to the south after the ceremony. They will be home to their friends at 920 Oneida street, after January 15. Slumber Party Miss Bernice Adsit entertained a group of friends at a slumber party New Year's eve. The evening was spent with dancing and games. A three course dinner was served at midnight. The guests were the Misses Estelle Hagen, Helen Henbest, Helene Harriman, Manette Ellis, Jean Mills and Harriet Kurz. For Lawrence Girl Miss Myra Melunis, who attends Lawrence college here, was guest of honor at a dinner party at the Beaumont hotel, Green Bay, given by Miss Elsie Jessen, Wednesday night. An informal program was presented at the Jessen home after the dinner. Fahjrbach - Laedtke Wedding Miss Alma Fahrabach and William J. Laedtke, both of Appleton, were married at 1:#0 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the parsonage of St. Paul church. The Rev. T. J. Sauer performed the ceremony. The couple was attended by Louis Kaphinst and Miss Lilian Fahrbach, sister of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Laedtke left on a wedding trip after the ceremony. Births A son was born Wednesday to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Christiansen, 421 Minor street. A daughter was born today to Mr. and Mrs. George Piette, Lake street.
