James Gardner, one of the earliest pioneers of the town of Freedom, died of infirmities yesterday at the age of 68 years. While plowing a year ago his team became unmanageable and he had the misfortune to fracture his leg since which time he had been in ill health. The decedent was born in Ohio and came to the county fourty-five years ago. He is survived by a wife and seven children, Matthew, Washington; Mrs. Schafer, Mrs. Ida Thursay, Rhinelander; Wilbur, Lake Geneva; Edward, Freedom; Mrs. Mary Simpson, Black Creek; Mrs. Dora Hager, Appleton. The funeral will be held from his late home tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock.
