She was first a disciple unto the Lord and also a loving mother and wife of four children and loving wife of her husband. She was a member of Columbia Bible Church in Kennewick, Washington. Sue was a teacher of her children as a home schooling mother and a leader in home school groups. Sue's life was filled with a passion for animals. She grew up with dogs and horses and enjoyed them through her final days. Her main goals in life were to Honor the Lord, raise her children with an understanding of Him, and nurture her husband. She is survived by her husband, Harry A. Day, and her four children, Angela M. Young (18) of Salem, Oregon, and Ryan A. Day (13), Levi A. Day (7) and Matthew A. Day (3) of Shiocton, Wisconsin; a sister, Betty Rogers of Spokane, Washington; brothers, Kenneth Hankins of Missoula, Montana, and Harry Hankins of Yakima, Washington; and mother, Dorothy Hankins of Missoula, Montana. He was born on June 11, 1910, in the Town of Amherst, Portage County, Wisconsin, son of the late Lee E. and Mabel T. (Anderson) Guyant. He married Irene O. Sorbye on July 29, 1939, in Nelsonville, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1991. Important activities in Herbert's life included becoming a born again Christian and having a loving marriage to Irene for 511/2 years, plus six years going steady. Survivors include one sister, Mary Hansen of Amherst; one sister-in-law, Ethel Guyant of Amherst; and one brother-in-law, Grant Lutz of Amherst Junction. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and one brother-in-law, Louis Hansen. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca on Monday, March 6, 2000, at 11:30 a.m. The Reverend James Bump, Pastor, will officiate. He was born March 25, 1914, in Green Bay to the late Harry and Lillian (Denison) Levitas. Howard served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Tobajoy Weitzman December 15, 1950, in Green Bay. He was the owner and operator of Gateway Liquor for 50 years. He was a member of the Cnesses Israel Congregation. He was director emeritus of the Green Bay Packers. He was a trainer for the Packers many years ago and a member of the Elks Club. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tobajoy; two daughters, Jodi (Gerry) Geiger, Neenah, and Amy (Skip) Rutzick, Palm Springs, California; and four grandchildren, Joshua (Mylea) Levitas, Lauren, Jessica and Ari. Jean Meade Napa, California Age 73, died February 13, 2000, at her residence following a six-and-a-half-year battle with a rare type of cancer. She was born November 20, 1926, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Harold and Adella (Werner) Dewey. She moved to Appleton at age three. Following graduation from Appleton High School in 1944, she went to Washington, D.C., to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Naval Observatory, and the National Geographic Society. She was united in marriage to J.D. Meade III, U.S. Navy, in Washington, D.C., on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1947. During her husband's 30 year naval career, she lived in London, England, Taipei, Taiwan, and in various cities on both the east and west coasts of the United States, including Portsmouth, Virginia; Norfolk, Virginia; Elkton, Maryland; Boston, Massachusetts; Long Beach and Vallejo, California. She has resided in the Napa Valley for the past 30 years. An avid recipe collector, she also had an extensive coin and stamp collection. She had been active in Queen of the Valley Hospital Cancer Support Group and also participated in many of the activities of the Napa Valley Rock and Gem Club, an organization of which her husband was a member and past president. She is survived by her husband, Joe; two daughters, Suzan Jean Barroso, Atascadero, and Deborah Jo Heald, Poulsbo, Washington; sister-in-law, Helen Dewey, Clintonville; niece, Barbara (Larry) Schewe, Greenville; four nephews, Tom Dewey, Appleton; David "Razz" Dewey, Clintonville; Steve Dewey, Appleton; Bill Cooper Jr., Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Vernon, and a sister, Arlene. Following cremation in Napa, inurnment and a brief memorial service will be held at the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, at a later date. Schroeder 703 Nassau Street, New London Age 83, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 3, 2000, at the New London Family Medical Center. She was born November 2, 1916, in New London, daughter of the late Alvin and Alma (Nipko) Handschke. Verna loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a resident of New London for many years and was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. She was formerly employed at Christy's Youth Shop in New London where she worked as manager for many years. She is survived by a son, Gerald (Rochelle) Schroeder, Las Vegas; a brother, Victor (Lorraine) Handschke, New London; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Schroeder, New London; Joyce Handschke, New London; Lucille Handschke, New London; four grandchildren, Gerilynn (Duane) Burton, New London; Tanya (Scott) Meyer, Gleason, Wisconsin; Sheldon (Dawn) Schroeder, Stevens Point; Erick Schroeder and special friend, Marci Wick, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Lucas, Jasmine, Daniel, Jacoby, and Donovan. Joseph St. Kimberly Age 76, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2000, at his residence. He was born March 9, 1923, in Kimberly, son of the late Henry and Anna (Perenboom) Van Cuyk. On September 30, 1944, Joe married the former Marion Kersten. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1993. Joe then married Jo Ann Milis on June 1, 1996. Joe served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and has been an active member of the color guard in the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion. He played baseball for local teams for several years after high school. Joe enjoyed attending the World Softball Tournaments held in Kimberly. He loved to be outdoors; walking, biking, golfing, fishing and playing horseshoes were among his favorite activities. Earl Van Hammond Albuquerque, New Mexico Age 73, died Thursday, February 24, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Van Hammond, Albuquerque; children, Daniel J. Van Hammond and wife, Vickie, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Kathy Pointer and husband, Jeff, Albuquerque; and Tony Van Hammond and wife, Cathy, Appleton; grandchildren, Joseph, Christine, David, Samuel, Jacob, Amber and Bethany; sisters, Angeline Van de Berg and husband, Bill, and Josephine Sanderfoot, all of Kimberly; sisters-in-law, Wilma Van Hammond, Kimberly, and Myrtle Van Hammond, Appleton; and many other family and friends.
