Amanda graduated from Oconomowoc High School in June of 1997 and graduated from WCTC in December of 1999 with an associate degree in police science. Amanda planned to continue her education at Carroll College where she worked for Carroll College security. She was involved in many sports and Amanda's final gift will help 60 people through a donation to the tissue bank. Amanda will be sadly missed by her parents, Robert and Marilyn Braun of Okauchee, Wisconsin; her sisters, Jennifer (Scott) Brielmaier of Dale, Wisconsin, and Katherine (Lloyd Phelps) Braun of Waukesha, Wisconsin; her maternal grandmother, Shirley Mills of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and her paternal grandmother, Wilma Braun of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She is the niece of Richard (Patricia) Braun of Waukesha, Sandra Braun of Madison, James (Joan) Mills of Milwaukee, Richard (Louise) Mills of Greendale, Wisconsin; and cousin of Karen, Michael, Jeff (Kim), Ken (Cindy), Tracy (Bill), Kelly (Greg) and Becky. Further survived by other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert C. Braun. Deltgen 1345 Lucerne Drive, No. 1 Menasha Age 84, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2000, at Manorcare Health Services. Les was born November 17, 1915, in Appleton, the son of the late John and Iola (Holcomb) Deltgen and has resided in the Fox Valley all of his life. He was united in marriage to Althea Donlinger on July 1, 1939, sharing 49 years together before her death on March 16, 1989. On September 27, 1990, Les married Jean Hunziker; she survivors. Les was formerly employed as a machinist at Kimberly-Clark Corp. Lakeview Mill for 31 years, retiring in 1978. Les enjoyed aviation all of his life. In 1938, he owned his own plane, a Pheasant Traveler, and he also made a tandem parachute jump from 10,000 feet at the age of 75. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Appleton, a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Appleton Elks Lodge 337, and the EAA. Survivors include his wife, Jean; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Deltgen of Appleton; two step-daughters, Sandra Hunziker of Wausau and Lark (Jack) Eckard of Phillips; a step-son, Steven (Carolyn) Hunziker of Los Gatos, California; mother-in-law, Josephine Gille of Merrill; a sister-in-law, Ilene (Deltgen) Techlin of Appleton; and a niece, Nancy. Marie was born February 15, 1911, in Menasha, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph F. and Anna E. (Pruchnofski) Wilfling. She married Elmer Halaychik on November 23, 1946, and he survives her. Marie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Thomas (Debbie) Halaychik, Eau Claire; a daughter, Anna Marie Halaychik, Menasha; a brother, James (Hanna) Wilfling, Hendersonville, North Carolina; and three grandchildren, Elisha (Tom) McConnell, and Beth and Joya Halaychik. Hooyman "Gene" Seattle, Washington Age 55, passed away Saturday, February 26, at his cabin on the Hood Canal, Washington, after a one-year illness of cancer with his son and two sisters at his side. Gene, born October 17, 1944, the son of the late Ken and Bertha (Langenhuizen) Hooyman, attended schools in this area and went on to the U of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he received his Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D in Public Health. In Seattle he was a consultant with the Employee Assistance Program. He was a kind and gentle man who loved nature, his log cabin and cared deeply for those close to him. His late father, a land developer on the northwest part of Appleton, through an agreement with the city, was allowed to name a street and that street became Eugene St., after his son. Gene is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Kevin and Mani, Seattle; his sisters, Elayne (Peter) Peterson, Appleton; Janet Lodholz, Minneapolis, Minnesota; friend and caretaker, Cathi Soriano, Seattle; nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins especially Tom Hooyman and Jack Stephani. Preceding Gene in death besides his parents was his son, Chris, who in June, 1998, while guiding a group down Mt. McKinley slid 2,000 feet to his death. Kilgas 950 State Street Kaukauna Age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home. He was born on October 12, 1921, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Otto and Katherine (Esler) Kilgas. Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy aboard the destroyers U.S.S. Vesole and U.S.S. Swanson in the Pacific, North African and Normandy theaters. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob married Lucille Hoefler on February 28, 1948, and shortly thereafter built a home in Kaukauna, where they lived all their lives. Bob was a carpenter working at the Institute of Paper Chemistry (Appleton) into the 1960s and later for both Lunda and Boldt Construction companies. He finished his carpentry career at Secura Insurance, where he retired from in 1985. Together with his wife, Bob raised five children. They, along with the grandchildren, were his greatest joy. He ensured that his love for music was passed on to his kids and grandkids as they all play various musical instruments. He was also an active organic gardener, successfully harvesting crops of popcorn, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, along with walnuts and pecans every year. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna, VFW Electric City Post 3319, the F&M Bank Prime Time Club, and a board member of the Kaukauna High School Alumni Association. He is survived by five children, Karl (Lynnette) Kilgas and their sons, Jason (Catherine) and Troy, Little Chute; Ken Kilgas, Kaukauna; Karol (Sam) Boe and their daughter, Tyler, Bedford, New York; Gary (Kathryn) Kilgas and their children, Amanda, Matthew, Paul and Phillip, Neenah; and Dan (Julie) Kilgas and their children, Ashley, Jessica and Cody, Anaheim, California; two brothers-in-law, Wenzel (Delores) Hoefler, Kaukauna, and Edwin Hoefler, Little Chute; four sisters-in-law, Josephine Kilgas, Kaukauna; Kareta Kilgas, Kaukauna; Olive Schinke, Little Chute; Virginia Samuels, Delaware; and many nieces and nephews. Bob had many special friends including Hank and Audrey Ceelen, Bee Hopfensperger, Len and Laurie Schmidt, Ted and Emma Gloudeman, Dr. Bob and Ginny Burns, member of the F&M Bank Prime Time Club, and his shipmates from the U.S.S. (Klingbeil) Schmitz in Racine and had been an Appleton resident since 1965. Richard served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been employed by Giddings and Lewis Machine Tool Company in Fond du Lac until he was transferred to the Kaukauna plant in 1965 to assume the position of vice president of engineering. Richard was employed by Giddings and Lewis for 37 years. He was a member of the board of directors for the Fox Valley Sheltered Workshop until retiring as president of the board in 1984. Richard was also a member of IEEE for many years. Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. (Heruth) Schmitz, whom he married May 28, 1954; five children, Kurt R. and Kazue Schmitz, Columbus, Georgia; Kristi R. and Kurt Schrampfer, Appleton; Stuart P. and Lori Schmitz, Kimberly; Steven J. and Michelyn Schmitz, Appleton; Allan E. and Connie Schmitz, Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Anthony and Emily Schmitz, Paul, Kate, Marie and David Schrampfer; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce M. and Louise Schmitz, Tucson, Arizona; and a sister, Marlene Austin, Viroqua, Wisconsin; three nephews and a niece. She enjoyed spending her winters with her husband in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she like to walk the beaches with her friends. Edie was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling with Nationwide Travelers and visiting flea markets and antique malls. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, George H.
