Scully, died of cancer Monday, March 13, 2000, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 16, 1953, the son of Vincent C. Scully Jr. and Gloria Peterson, both of Pittsburgh. Kreg graduated from Lawrence University, Appleton, with degrees in math, computers and art. He was a natural born teacher and a brilliant artist. His gemstone carvings won National AGTA Cutting Edge Awards and he is recognized as one of the top American gem carvers. Kreg was a wonderful human being, a gentle, kind person who lived to give and was concerned about helping others. His soul so often reflected perfect love incarnate and anyone, who had the time to know him, is now richer forever. The blessing of his presence will be sorely missed by those who loved him. He leaves behind his parents; his wife, Anna Lee; his children, Chris, Lisa, Abrahm, Naomi, Noah and Jeshua; grandchildren, Abigail and Aaron; a sister, Joni Scully; brothers, Erik Scully, Erin Scully, Scott Scully, Ralph Shoemaker; and his mother-in-law, Jean Shoemaker. He has been a beloved friend to many. The expressions of love in his work were true harmony of line and color and his intention to express the beauty that was inherent in the medium he worked with. He believed that true art was of the soul and in that, had the ability to move the soul of the beholder. His spirit is alive in all of us and his individuality in the body of his work. He will never be far from us. Nothing can separate us, not even death. We are bonded by the journey we have shared and by the wonder of this miracle, life, where gratitude for that which we have, is compounded by the ability to hold the present moment as gently as you can. Remember that if even for a minute we were lucky enough to share time, we can use it to love and be loved; otherwise, it is wasted. Through God's grace we know we will hold each other again. We will have a celebration of Kreg's life at the A.R.E., 67th and Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Sunday afternoon, April 2, at 2 p.m. A trust fund has been set up to help the family. ONLY ONE MOTHER Hundreds of Stars in the pretty sky, Hundreds of bees in the purple clover Hundreds of birds that go singing by, But only one mother the whole world over. I know not the way I'm going, But well do I know my Guide! With childlike faith I offer my hand, To the mighty friend by my side. And the only thing that I say to Him, As He takes it, is "Hold it fast!" Suffer me not to lose the way. And lead me Home at last.
