He was born April 27, 1921, in Kaukauna, son of the late Levi and Clara (Fowles) Anderson. George was a lifelong resident of Kaukauna, where he resided with his wife, Florence. George worked at Appleton Papers, Locks Mill, until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, the Appleton Papers Quarter Century Club and the 1000 Islands Environmental Center. He enjoyed "tinkering," was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and found contentment hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He is survived by his wife of many happy years, Florence (Baumgarten) Anderson; three sons, George (Antoinette) Anderson Jr., Kaukauna; Karl (Diane) Anderson, Dale; David (Patricia) Anderson, Stevens Point; two daughters, Mary (Larry) Anderson-Offer, De Pere; Susan (Merlyn) Childs, Shawano; ten grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson, Christopher (Josie Moore) Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Michael Anderson, Derek (Diane) Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Jay Anderson, Erika Anderson, Melissa Childs and Stephen Childs. He is also survived by his sister, Carol (Ralph) Rogers, Little Chute; his wife's family, Marie Frank, Appleton; Esther Cropsey, Kaukauna; Raymond "Butch" (Mildred) Baumgarten, Kaukauna; Dorothy (Nick) Milbach, Kaukauna; Helen Baumgarten, California; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Katherine Anderson and his brother and sister-in-law, John and Johanna Anderson. Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with Father Irvin Udulutsch officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Becker Winneconne, WI Shelby J. Becker, age 62, of Winneconne, WI, died early Tuesday morning, March 21, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh, WI. She was born June 15, 1937, in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of the late Earl and Helen (Stephen) Allen. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1955. She married Ronald Becker on April 27, 1957, in Winneconne, WI, and they made their home and farmed in the Town of Winneconne their entire married lifetime. She was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Becker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Deborah Becker and Mark and Lori Becker, all of Winneconne, WI; two daughters and one son-in- law, Bonnie Gross of Oshkosh, WI and Barbara and Larry Keys of Omro, WI; one sister, Kathy Gross of Oshkosh, WI; eight grandchildren, Andy Becker, Nicole and Josh Roen, Kevin, Alex and Austin Gross and Mikayla and Makenzie Becker, and one great-grandson, Jordan Roen. He was born February 26, 1920, in Pearson, Wisconsin, son of the late Henry and Elsie (DeBroux) Buss. He married Harriet L. Halfmann on January 21, 1941, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha, and a member of the Holy Name Society. Albert was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 152. Al was employed at Gilbert Paper for 36 years, and was a member of their Quarter Century Club, before retiring in 1980. He loved woodworking, carpentry, playing cards, and he thoroughly enjoyed music. Survivors include a daughter, Linda M. Buss, Appleton; three grandchildren, Roger (Kerrie) Lehrer Jr., John Lehrer, Neenah; Catherine (Steve) Frazen, Oshkosh; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Alexis Lehrer; three step-great-grandchildren, David and Cassandra Elbe, Neenah; and Bryan Brower, Florida; a son-in-law, Roger Lehrer Sr., Neenah; a sister, Arlene (Michael) Kovalick, Spokane, Washington; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Buss, New Milford, Connecticut; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Margaret Mason. Laverne A. Halverson Appleton Age 86, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at ManorCare, following a lengthy illness. He was born December 17, 1913, in Birnamwood, Wisconsin, the son of Matthew and Emma (Raddatz) Martin. Laverne married the former Ruth Thurner April 3, 1937. He worked for 30 years at Miller Electric, and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. Laverne took great pride in his family and making sure he kept his automobiles impeccably clean and in excellent condition. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Ardis (Bill) Brandt, Appleton; two sisters, Mayme Krause, Appleton; and Marlene Schmidt, Neenah; two grandsons: David Brandt, Winneconne; and Robert (Lynn) Brandt, Neenah; and a great grandson, Brandon Brandt. Laverne is further survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Halverson, Appleton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Rexford, Harlan, Leander, Daniel, Delore and Claire. Superior Street Appleton 739-1231 Henry H. Klingbile 2600 Heritage Woods Drive Age 91, died Monday morning, March 20, 2000. He was born September 25, 1908, to the late Henry J. and Lena (Kopisky) Klingbile, in the Town of Gibraltar, Door County. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Normal School (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and St. Norbert College earning his degree. Henry taught schools in Door County and at the State Reformatory in Green Bay. From 1946 to 1973 he was employed as a Probation and Parole Agent for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Masonic Lodge earning the rank of Master. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was president of the church board and served on other committees and also a former member of Downtown Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy C. (Zimmerman) Klingbile, whom he married on September 7, 1991; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Gurlik, Neenah; Judith and Gary Liese, Fairfield, Iowa; Doris Reynolds, Momence, Illinois; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Emery and Wilma Klingbile, Corbin, Kentucky; a sister, Martha Honold, Fish Creek, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; his second wife, Hattie; a son, Henry Frank Klingbile; two brothers, Arnold and Walter Klingbile; two sisters, Eva Klingbile and Hulda Hoefert. Laird Black Creek Age 86, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1914, the son of Sannie and Esma (Greeley) Laird. He was united in marriage on October 1, 1960, to Anita K. Grossman. Russell lived most of his life in the Fox Valley. He was a plumber for Center Valley Co-op in 1935, then decided to work for himself as a plumber until he was 62 years old. He then went to work for the Center Valley Credit Union as a Loan Officer and Credit Manager until his retirement in 1982. Russell was the past fire chief for the Town of Center for 16 years and also the custodian for the Center Valley Fire Department and Community Building. Russell was a member of the Senior Citizens clubs of Black Creek and Greenville. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Anita; sister-in-law, Ellen Laird; a special niece, Glenna (Clarence) Wittlin and family, Hortonville; seven nephews, other relatives and friends. She was born June 6, 1935, in Neenah, daughter of the late Walter Demerath and Anna Miller. Doris retired from Park View Health Center after almost 20 years of service. She enjoyed collecting birds, bird watching, reading and camping. Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Pownell and Cindy Selle, both of Neenah; three sons, John (Penny), Shiocton; Chris (Kathy), Three Lakes; James Jr., Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren, Travis Selle, Jenny and Jesse Pownell, and April Pownell, and other relatives and friends. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Menasha. Nadie was a fond believer in angels and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She also enjoyed traveling, which included trips to Arizona. Nadie is survived by her former husband and friend, Delbert Schultz, Appleton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Blaine Schultz, Milwaukee; Tony (Vicki) Schultz and their children, Cole and Caelen, Appleton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly (Gregory C.) Harbor and their children, Alexa and Chance, Neenah; a brother, Raymond A.
