(Nettie) De Bruin 414 Van Den Broek St., Little Chute Age 87, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2000 at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna where she resided for the past two months after breaking her hip. Nettie was born April 8, 1912 to Johanna (Annie) and Martin Peerenboom. She married John (Gene) E. De Bruin on November 24, 1931. Nettie and John were married for 68 years this past November. Nettie loved to sew and spend time in her favorite sun room where her knowledge, compassion and loving ways passed from one generation to the next. Nettie cared for everyone else first and will always be remembered as a special person with a heart of gold. We will always cherish her forever... Nettie and John had three children who survived: Joanne (Jerry) Verbeten, Marion (Bill) Marvin and LeRoy (Ceceila) De Bruin. She is further survived by her sister, Marie Gillette and two special nieces: JoAnn Gillette, Maryanne (Joe) Van Hammond and her special nephew, Chuck (Fugi) Gillette. She has 15 grandchildren: Mary Ann (Gary) Mounce, Gary (Sue) Verbeten, Jeannie (Greg) De Bruin, Geralyn (Larry) Harkness, Carol (Dave) Appleton, Laurie Reoyo, Susanne De Bruin, Renee De Bruin, Janice (Robert) Koeber, Mark De Bruin, Paul De Bruin, Thomas (Stacey) De Bruin, David (Amanda) De Bruin, Daniel De Bruin, and Sharon De Bruin. She also has 16 great- grandchildren: Josh De Bruin, Thomas and Jacob Appleton; Ashlie and Lukas Mounce, Michelle, Andy, Benny, Jared De Bruin, Jenny and Nickolas Harkness, Frankie and Nicholas Reoyo, Nick, Melissa, and Emily Verbeten. She was preceded in death by her parents: Johanna (Annie) and Martin Peerenboom; her brother-in- law, Ralph Gillette; her husband's sisters and brothers and his parents. She was born January 23, 1924 in the Township of Lanark, Portage County, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Edgar and Lucille (Gibbs) Basford. She married Peter Doyle on June 27, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1981. Survivors include three daughters: Jacqueline (Richard) May, Waupaca; Vicki (Daniel) Quimby, Weyauwega; Kathy (Charles) Hettich, Sheboygan; three sons: Dennis (Josephine) Doyle, Milwaukee; Peter "Buck" (Donna) Doyle, Sheboygan; Edgar (Jacqueline) Doyle, Stevens Point; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Everette "Jack" Basford, Rockford, Illinois; Irving Basford, Waupaca; two sisters: Ruby (Darrel) Dunbar, Waupaca; Judy (Gary) Jones, Amherst. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her parents, a sister, Belva Robbins and four brothers: Bill, Art, Jimmy and Dick Basford. John Van Stralen ("Little Itch") Formerly of Kimberly, Wisconsin age 68 died on March 21, 2000 after a short illness at his home with his children: Michelle, Steve, John Jr., and Gary by his side. He resided at 9344 Wexford Drive, Tujunga, California 91042. He worked for over 30 years for CBS and was a retired United States Marine Corps Vet (USMC). A memorial service will be held on April 15 at Sunland Neighbor Church, Sunland, California. Eileen I. Wierschke Greenleaf, Wisconsin Age 89, passed away April 2, 2000. The daughter of the late William and Emma (Pflueger) Pagel was born May 20, 1910 in Greenleaf and was a lifelong resident. Eileen married Arthur Wierschke October 11, 1934 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenleaf and he preceded her in death April 15, 1986. Eileen was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenleaf and the Ladies Aide Society at the church. Survivors include a son and two daughters-in-law: William and Renee Wierschke, Brillion; Faye Wierschke, De Pere; four grandchildren: Larry and Julie Wierschke and their family, Samantha, Megan and Laura, Ashwaubenon; Mark and Cindy Wierschke and their family, Josh, Cassie, Connor, Zach, Onalaska, Wisconsin; Joel and Kim Wierschke and their family, Alex, Hollie, and Sara, Ashwaubenon; Keri and Nicholas Bartman and their family, Matt and Emily, Neenah; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Burial in the church cemetery. Barbara A. Owen Menasha On Sunday, April 2, 2000 the Lord chose to take our mother, wife, grandmother and friend after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Menasha, graduated from Menasha High School, was employed by Kimberly Clark and was an active member of St. John Parish in Menasha. She loved life and always put her family and friends before herself. Over the years, she unselfishly volunteered as a religious education teacher, a Girl Scout leader, a camp counselor, or whatever her children were involved with at the time. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 38 years, Tom, Menasha; her five children: Sharon (Michael) McKilligin, Edgerton, Wisconsin; Wendy (Philip) Paul, Racine; Anthony Owen, Greendale, Wisconsin; Kelly (Alan) Birschbach, Kenosha; Nikia Owen, Milwaukee; her sister, Dorothy Kosoloski, Neenah; her six grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Schomisch Appleton Age 85, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 16, 1914 in Appleton, daughter of the late Adam and Clara (Drinks) Limpert. On August 16, 1941 she married Wallace Schomisch and he passed away on November 16, 1973. She was a life long member of St. John United Church of Christ and her parents where charter members of the church. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a cook. She will be sadly missed by her children and grandchildren: Sharon (James) Muncey and their children: Lisa (Mark) Tiseling, Leon and Kelly, all of Appleton; Stephen (Paticia) Schomisch and their children: Joel and Ryan, all of Appleton; Shirley (David) Zak and their children: Stacy and Kayla, all of Pine River; Nicole, Lakewood, Colorado. He was born September 11, 1912 in Gresham, son of the late Charles and Anna (Schroeder) Wudtke. On June 18, 1937 he was united in marriage to the former Isla Strauss at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Bonduel. Mr. Wudtke graduated from Linotype School in Chicago and was employed for over 40 years at the Shawano Leader. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing dartball. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano where he served for many years as an usher and was a member of the Men's Club. Survivors include his wife, Isla Wudtke, Town of Wescott, Shawano; children: Martha Van Rooy, Appleton; Karl (Hope) Wudtke, Riehmond, Texas and Shawano; grandchildren: Timothy (Tricia) Van Rooy, Appleton; Brian Van Rooy, Mesa, Arizona; Matthew (Stacey) Wudtke, Sheridan, Wyoming; Misti Wudtke and Hanni Wudtke, Shawano; a great-grandchild, Mason Van Rooy; three nieces: Janice (John) Gosnell, Thiensville; Mary (William) Weltin, Waukesha; Elaine (Robert) Pederson, Shawano; sister-in-law, Margaret Wudtke, Milwaukee. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 12 noon at St. James Lutheran Church, Shawano with Pastor Michael Schram officiating.
