Obituaries from The Post Crescent, Appleton Wisconsin Wednesday 05 April 2000 David "Fluf" Barrington 1003 Lawrence St., New London Age 52, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 3, 1947 in New London, son of the late Ward and Margaret (Collier) Barrington. On February 27, 1971 he married Bonnie Korb in New London. Fluf was employed at Curwood for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member and Senator of the New London Jaycees. He was also a member of the Shamrock Club and was the Irishman of The Year for the 2000 St. Patrick's Day Parade in New London. He enjoyed bowling and was secretary of the Good Sports League for many years. He was a member of the Wolf River Men's Club and was very community minded by giving his time freely to various organizations. Fluf was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; four daughters: Heather (Will) Pickett, Oshkosh; Erin Barrington, Manitowoc; Colleen Barrington, LaCrosse; Shannon Barrington, New London; three brothers: Mike (Ruth) Barrington, New London; Dan (Melanie) Barrington, Green Bay; Tom "Mooch" (Judi) Barrington, New London; five sisters: Judy (Jim) McDaniel, New London; Suzi Snyder, New London; Margie (John) Kloehn, Shawano; Kathy (Russ) Laczniak, Ames, Iowa; Joan (Steve) Malliet, New London. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Pete Snyder. The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 7, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Rev. Tito Sammut officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until the procession leaves the church. There will be parish prayer service Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Gibson "Gibby" Verona Age 91, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2000, after a brief illness. He was born on October 27, 1908, in Chicago, Illinois, the only son of Frank and Nellie Blakely Gibson. They later moved to Janesville where he spent his childhood. He then attended the University of Wisconsin, obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Vivian Law on December 29, 1936, and they settled in the Neenah-Menasha area. Glen was employed and retired from the Kimberly- Clark Corporation in Neenah. He is survived by his former wife, Vivian Wilcox, Appleton; three children: a son, Ronald (Lucy), Madison; son, Thomas (Donna), Verona; a daughter, Joan (Jerry) Bascombe, Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Bernice Gibson, Verona; three grandchildren, David Gibson and Keith Gibson, both of New York; and Jennifer Bascombe, Kansas City, Missouri. Gorski Northeast Minneapolis Minnesota Age 60, died March 29, 2000, after a six-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Salmon); his children, Michael Joseph (Peng Yean), Lisa Marie (Gary Deming), Alan David (Paula) and Linda Kathleen (Tom Hupf); beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Eric Hupf; Graham and Lauren Deming; and Drew, Sydney and Taylor Gorski; a sister, Jean Drabeczak (Ed); and brothers, Michael (Donna) and Daniel. David was a retired police chief of the Appleton Police Department serving from 1977 to 1995. He served as director of Police and Security for Harvard University from 1975 to 1977 and Public Safety Director for Golden Valley, Minnesota, from 1973 to 1975. Florence S. Johnson Age 88, formerly of Waupaca, passed away Monday, April 3, 2000, at St. Joseph Residence in New London, where she was a resident. Florence was born September 16, 1911, in Waupaca, the daughter of Viggo and Nicolina (Johnson) Hansen. On January 30, 1954, Florence married Douglas Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 18, 1967. Florence graduated from Waupaca High School in 1929. She worked with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. Florence was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca, Order of Eastern Star, Communications of American-Illinois Bell, Theodore Vail Chapter of Telephone Pioneers-Chicago, and the Wisc. Valley Life Member Club - Telephone Pioneers Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Survivors include a daughter, Christie Ann (William) Gonwa, Weyauwega; a grandson, Matthew Gonwa, Weyauwega. She is further survived by a sister, Edna (Marvin) Klank, Waupaca; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Otto Hansen. She married Edwin Espenshade in 1949. He passed away in 1960. She then married Joseph Nauber in 1962. Jo enjoyed cooking, baking special cakes and working for the V.N.A. as a caregiver for many years. She leaves a husband of 38 years and four sons, Richard Espenshade and his special friend, Margie; Joseph E. Nauber, William Nauber and fiancee Debie and her daughter, Amanda; Frederick Nauber and his ex-wife, Nancy, a special friend. She also leaves five grandchildren, Kasie, Aaron, Josh, Dylan and Rylee. There will be no viewing or services as this is Jo's wishes. Her wishes are to be cremated. We would like to thank the VNA, Theda Clark and Peabody Manor for all the help and care of our wife, mother and grandmother. Her battle with cancer has taken her from us. Robert was born on March 29, 1943, in Kimberly. He was raised in Kimberly and then moved to Little Chute where he started Bob's Lawn and Recreation in 1971 until 1985. After selling the business, he moved to Pickerel and started Woodlawn Landscaping. He enjoyed fixing everything, golfing, all outdoor activities, building his street rod and auto racing with his family and friends. Robert spent his winters in LaFeria, Texas, where he made many new friends. He was a member of the United States Navy from 1960 until 1964 serving on the U.S.S. Oriskany. Robert is survived by his wife, Carol L.
