(Patricia) Dahlberg; eight grandchildren: Janet Pachmayer, Joan Evans, James (Melody) Merkel, John (Katharine) Merkel, Deborah (Eugene) Hochstetler, Kathleen Wynn, Carl E. State St., Appleton, Wisconsin 54911. James R. Phillips 1195 Christopher Lane, Neenah Age 52, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at his residence of an apparent heart attack. Jim was born March 20, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin son of the late Anton "Tony" and Mary Fitzgarrald Phillips. On May 10, 1974 he married Judine Hau at Presentation Parish in North Fond du Lac. They have two children: Trisha and Robert. James married Marilyn Grab December 31, 1994 in Appleton. Jim graduated from Goodrich High School with the Class of 1966 and then attended Madison Area Technical College for Culinary Arts. He served with the U.S. Special Forces Green Beret from 1967 to 1970 stationed throughout Southeast Asia. His lifetime career was in the Insurance Industry. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and cooking. He is survived by a daughter, Trisha Phillips, a student at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse; a son, Robert Phillips, at home in Fond du Lac; a sister, Florence (John) Vellutto, Marblehead, Massachusetts; three brothers: Richard (Marion) Phillips, Niceville, Florida; Thomas (Peggy) Phillips, Casper, Wyoming; Dr. John (Linda) Phillips, Fond du Lac; nephews: Matthew Velluto, Tony, Steven, Michael and Joey Phillips; nieces: Andrea Sommer, Kristina and Michelle Phillips. She was born January 6, 1918 in Custer, Wisconsin, daughter of Alois and Helen (Slagowski) Haka. She married Lambert Sankey in 1942 at Stevens Point and he preceded her in death in April, 1970. Mrs. Sankey was a member and past president of the Neenah Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary, Post 10893. She was also a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha. Mrs. Sankey is survived by a sister, Cornela "Corcy" (Donald) Sankey, Stevens Point; two brothers: Frank Haka, Stevens Point; Stanley (Joyce) Haka, Utica, New York; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was born February 6, 1910 in the same home in the Town of Woodville where he died, son of the late Joseph and Frances (Prechtel) Schwabenlander. Harry graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1934. He farmed in the Town of Woodville and owned and operated the Schwabenlander Saw Mill in St. John. Harry loved education, history, hunting and motorcycles. He is survived by two nieces: Joyce (Art) Kopf, Chilton; Carole Jo Campbell, New York City, New York; two nephews: Jerome Schwabenlender, Fond du Lac; Robert Schwabenlander, New Franken; a sister, Frances Stenz, Waupun. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Campbell and Marie Hein; six brothers: John, Joseph, Anthony, Simon, Lawrence, and Norbert; a nephew, Don Stenz. Buchanan Road, Kaukauna Age 79, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday April 8, 2000 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 17, 1921 in Kaukauna. His wife of 56 years, Lorraine, took wonderful care of him until his death. Her devotion and compassion will always be remembered by all of us. She taught all of us the true meaning of marriage and commitment. He will long be remembered for his love of family and work, especially in his yard and garden. He was a great apple peeler, hickory nut cracker and helper to all the 4-H groups that his wife taught for so many years. They loved to spend time at their cottage he built in Lakewood. He farmed the family farm his entire life along with working at Kimberly Clark (Midtec) for 34 years. He was born, raised, lived and died on the family homestead. He was very proud of that. He was proud to have graduated from St. John's High School "Class of 38". He was a great fan of the Packers and held season tickets for 50 years. His faith was very important to him. He and Lorraine attended mass every morning at St. John's since his retirement. How blessed we are to have him pass on during the season of Lent. It is the time of celebration of eternal life. Wheeler W9680 Wheeler Road, Dale Age 81, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, April 7, 2000 at his residence. He was born October 22, 1918 in Appleton, the son of Matt and Ida (Gensler) Wheeler. On October 4, 1941 he was united in marriage to Elaine (Torbeck) Wheeler. He lived most of his life in Appleton until moving to Dale in 1979. Ken was a U.S. Army Veteran who served with the 9th Armored Division in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II in Germany. He retired in 1980 from Foremost Farms of Appleton after 38 years of service. He spent his retirement years doing the things he like best: gardening, painting, fishing, writing poetry, woodworking, and working on his trucks and tractors. Survivors include his ex-wife, Elaine; his son, James (Linda) Wheeler; his two daughters: Suzanne Van Handel (special friend, Robert A. Fischer) and Betsy Hoks; five grandchildren: Laurie (Brian) Runge, John (Connie) Wheeler, Farrah Fisher, Katie Hoks and Kelly Hoks; two great- grandchildren: Jessica and Kimberly Runge; a brother, Arthur (Marion) Wheeler; a sister, Thelma (Harvey) Salzman and a sister-in-law, Regene Wheeler. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his loyal pet, Sandy. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and a sister-in-law: Eldee Wheeler, Leonard and Evelyn Wheeler.
