Obituaries from The Post Crescent, Appleton Wisconsin Sunday 16 April 2000 Karen Lynn (Koch) Andrews Kaukauna Karen passed from this life into eternal life and the arms of her Savior on Friday, April 14, 2000, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Karen had a deep and personal relationship with her Savior and anyone who knew Karen knew that she was always praying. One of the things that bothered her most during her illness was not being able to finish her prayers when she would drift off due to the drugs she needed to take. Her prayers were for everyone that she loved not just herself. Karen was a very special person who, even through her illness, always put the feelings of others before her own. Karen was born on October 29, 1942, the second of four children born to Leah (Sager) Koch and Clarence "Bud" Koch. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1960 and shortly thereafter on January 28, 1961, married Robert S. Andrews and spent the next thirty years of her life as a devoted wife and mother, living mostly in Texas and Mississippi. Her marriage to Bob produced two children, Robert S. Andrews II and Kimberly Leah (Andrews) Culloo, whom she loved with all her nurturing heart. She loved recalling and talking about the numerous family trips that had been taken to various parts of the United States when her children were young. Karen loved writing poetry and found it to be a source of peace and contentment for her. Ten years ago Karen returned to be a source of peace and contentment for her. Ten years ago Karen returned to the Fox Valley, which she always considered "home" and began a new life. She spent much time with her family, especially enjoying going to the casino with her mother and playing the "nickel slots." She loved her little apartment on the river and received great joy from watching the ducks frolic outside her window. Her job at Pensar Corporation was a source of pride and independence to her. There she formed many new friendships with co-workers whom she considered her "Pensar family." Karen is survived by her mother, Leah, who has been a constant source of love and support to her. She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Kim and her husband Leo Culloo and their children, Keith and Nicole; Bobby Andrews and his wife Kristy and their children, Karen's precious grandchildren, Bobby and Nicholas. Also surviving is her brother David Koch and his wife Barbie; her sister and best friend Paula Brandt, and her "baby sister" Chris Krueger and her husband Mike. Nieces and nephews include David's family, Brian and Patti Koch and their children Tricia, Katie, and B.J.; Kelly and John "Putter" Swedburg and their children Corey and Tyler; Craig and Karen Koch and their children Allysa and Chad; Daryl and Kelly Koch and their children, Kasey and Kiana; Paula's family, Lisa Smith and special friend Rick Ley and her children Bonnie and Julie; Bill and Michelle Brandt and their son Matthew; Chris and Mike's family, Kyle and Cole. Karen cared about many people who had been a part of her life. They include the Jackie Schultz family, the Millie and Gene Lorenz family, Ginny Recla, Joanne Kobussen, Judy Koch, Robert Van Wychen and his son Brian. A special Uncle Paul Koch, Barb De Prycker and Aggie Brinkman. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Clarence "Bud" Koch; her maternal grandparents, Albert and Agnes Koch; her former mother and father-in-law, Steve and Lorraine Andrews, and a great-niece Noel Angel Brandt. A special thank-you to Dr. Anthony Phillips and the staff at Fox Valley Oncology and Hematology, the many wonderful nurses on Four Southwest at Appleton Medical Center and in particular Sharon Specht, who gave Karen such comfort and care during her hospitalization. Thank you to Karen's Hospice nurses, Mary, Jan and Mary, and an extra special and caring ThedaCare Nurse Rosemary, who will always remain in our hearts. Thank you to all of our wonderful friends at Pensar too numerous to mention who continually visited and sent cars and flowers, never forgetting her through all the difficult months. Thank you to everyone who remembered Karen with their prayers, thoughts, flowers or gifts during her illness. "There are so many things that could have been said that never were said. I loved our time together doing the things only a mother and daughter do. I'll miss your smile and hearing your laughter. Your ability to laugh at yourself and some of the situations you were in was heartwarming. The greatest compliment I've ever been told is when people would look at us and ask if we were sisters. I'll miss you, but you'll always be in my heart and soul. I love you mom." Kim Mom - "Having you for my mom was truly a gift. You were always there for me no matter what. I love you so much. I only wish I could have kept you longer. You were so brave and strong. I will carry the memory of the love you had for me in my heart forever." Love, your son, Bobby. "Life will never be the same without you my precious, fragile sister who loved me so unconditionally. I'm so sorry for always hollering at you for being late. If I could have you back I would never care again if you were late. You will be in my heart and part of me always and forever. Until we're together again, I love you. Go with the angels!" God saw he was getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around him, And whispered "come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched, as we saw him fade away, And though we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Dorothy May Harrod 347 Eighth St., Menasha Died Saturday, April 15, 2000. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Valley Funeral Home. The days we do not think of you are very hard to find. Each morning when we awaken, we know that you are gone. And no one knows how much we miss you as we carry on. There will always be heartache, and ofter a silent tear, But always precious memories of the days when you were here. Our thoughts are always with you and your place no one can fill, In life we loved you dearly and in death we love you still. If tears could make a staircase and heartaches make a lane, We'd walk the path to heaven and bring you home again. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again. Our family chain is broken now and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. What it meant to lose you mom, no one will ever know.
