Gerrits Appleton Age 49, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2000. Noreen was born April 30, 1950, in Appleton, daughter of the late Ervin and Sylvia (Wittman) Kirk. In 1978, she married Richard R. Gerrits in Appleton. Noreen had great love for her children, and caring for them was her priority. She especially enjoyed attending the various sports activities they were involved in. She was also a great cook. Noreen is survived by her husband, Richard; four children, Jared Birch, Kevin (and friend, Abby), Jason (and friend, Melynda), and Tracey; a sister, Barb Kirk; five brothers, Chuck, Steve (Sherry), Andrew, Edward (Julie), and Tony (Patty) Kirk. She will be greatly missed by her husband's parents, family, friends and neighbors. Noreen was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. The funeral service for Noreen will be held Thursday, April 20, 2000, at 4 p.m. at WICHMANN TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 South Oneida Street, with Fr. John Holly officiating. Klarner "Betty" 403 E. Third St., Kimberly Age 74, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at the Appleton Medical Center following heart surgery. She was born June 27, 1925, in Seymour, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Anna (Vergowen) Hermus. On May 21, 1947, Betty married Edward W. Klarner; they would have celebrated 53 years of marriage together in May. They had four children, Larry and Melanie Klarner, Ohio; Donald and Susan Klarner, California; Barbara Beach and Tom Dorn, Kaukauna; Thomas and Cora Klarner, Florida. There are 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three brothers and three sisters-in-law, John (Tilly) Hermus, Seymour; Bill (Evelyn) Hermus, Kimberly; Tony (Jean) Hermus, De Pere; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Cora Van Cuyk, Kaukauna; Anna Vanden Heuvel, Seymour; Mary Vanden Heuvel, Green Bay; Antoinette Van Handel, Kimberly; Theresa (Joe) Linsmeyer, Seymour; Rose (Harold) Hendricks, northern Wisconsin; Sam Weller, Appleton; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Anthony Beach; a brother, James Hermus; and three sisters, Jane Hermus, Josephine Hermus and Nellie Weller. Betty was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly, and the William Verhagen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 60. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and again Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and there will be parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. Anja K. Maki W5338 Porter Road, Bonduel Age 55, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 5, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late John and Hilda (Laari) Juhala. They lived and farmed on Sugar Island. As a teen-ager, Anja moved to Sault Ste. Marie and worked for room and board in order to attend high school. She graduated in 1962 and moved to Bath, Maine, and then to Boston, Massachusetts, where she met her husband, Earl. They were married in 1964 and lived in North Carolina while Earl was in the Marine Corps. The couple moved to Earl's hometown, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, before moving to Wisconsin in 1973. Anja worked for The Shopper for 12 years and then in the corporate office in the advertising department of the Farm and Home stores before they were sold as individual stores. Most recently, she was self-employed at home as a desktop publisher before her illness forced her to give it up. Her main focus in life was always her children and they enjoyed many camping, hiking, biking and skiing trips. She was looking forward to doing the same with her grandchildren. Anja was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel. Survivors include her husband, Earl, and three children, Dale (Lori), Black Creek; Bob (fiancee, Susan), Oshkosh, and Renee, at home; two grandsons, Jeran and Ryan; also a sister and three brothers, Eila (Bob) Mathias, Bonduel; Paul (Judy) Juhala, Sugar Island, Michigan; Onni (Ulla), Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Arthur (Jonita), Hazel Park, Michigan; several nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and grand nephews. Anja was especially thankful for the care and concern of her husband, her children and their mates as well as her sister, Eila, and brother-in-law, Bob. Malueg Menasha Age 37, died unexpectedly Monday, April 17, 2000. He was born December 24, 1962, in Neillsville, Wisconsin, son of the late Eugene and Janice (Buchberger) Malueg. Survivors include two sons, Charles Edward Malueg Jr. and Corey John Malueg; three sisters, Cheryl (Steven) Pruetz, Appleton; Candie (Kurt) Miller, Menasha; Carla (Geoff) Petermann, Appleton; a brother, Calvin (Dawn) Malueg, Menasha; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. (Johnson) Tate 524 Grant St., Winneconne Age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Friendship Manor in Winneconne where she was a resident for the past nine years. She was born January 7, 1911, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Helmer and Carrie (Peterson) Hoganson. Ellen married Fredrick Johnson in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1939. She then married Herbert Tate in 1971. He preceded her in death in 1984. After Fredrick's passing she moved from Chicago to Neenah and worked for Kimberly-Clark in Sales at the Lakeview Mill for 30 years before retiring in 1971. Ellen was preceded in death by her husbands and a brother, Leslie. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, 2000, at 5 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with the Reverend Catherine Mode officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. She will be sadly missed by her husband, James; her daughter, Alice (Mark) Hodel, Omro; a granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Hodel; her mother, Louise McClean, Appleton; and her brother, Paul McClean, Appleton. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Albert McClean. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont, 210 Main St., Fremont.
