Obituaries from The Post Crescent, Appleton Wisconsin Monday 01 May 2000 Jane Brauer Appleton Age 83, of Appleton, Wisconsin, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, died peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, April 28, 2000, at ManorCare Facility, Appleton. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2000, at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, Wisconsin Rapids, with the Reverend Kenneth Hunter officiating. A private family burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids. Jane was born April 21, 1917, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, the daughter of Soren and Nell Johnson. She attended Waupaca High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics, graduating in 1939. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, Mortar Board, and Phi Beta Kappa. On May 4, 1940, she married John Brauer and moved to Wisconsin Rapids, where she lived until October 1998. While a resident of Wisconsin Rapids, Jane was an avid golfer and bridge player and loved to read and bake cookies for her grandchildren. She was a member of Bull's Eye Country Club, Tuesday Club, Book Club, and AAUW. For many years, she was an active volunteer for the Riverview Hospital Auxiliary and St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church. She moved to River Run in 1993, and enjoyed her many friendships there. In October 1998, Jane moved to Appleton and resided at the Renaissance until September 1999, when she became a resident of ManorCare Health Facility. She also was a member of Riverview Country Club in Appleton. Jane is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Brauer of Appleton and Barbara (Graham) Werner of Appleton; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Werner of Appleton, Gregory (Sara) Werner of North Barrington, Illinois, David (Anne-Marie) Werner of Denver, Colorado, and Ann Werner of Hartford, Connecticut; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, and Graham Werner. She is further survived by a brother, Richard (Maxine) Johnson of Waupaca and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Loretta "Hazel" (Head) Weber 338 N. St. Chilton Died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at her home in Chilton. She was born in the Town of Stockbridge, daughter of the late James and Lena (Joas) Head. She married Paul Weber on June 10, 1940. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1969. She worked at the Carnation Company in Chilton, Everix Bakery in Chilton, she was a hair dresser in the Kaukauna area, she owned and operated Weber Family Meat Market with the husband, Chilton Medal Products in Chilton, Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, she also was a waitress at the Eagles Club in Chilton, a cook at the Brant Inn and kitchen help at the Kloten Oasis. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and a member of the Chilton Eagles Auxiliary #1288. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Weber, Chilton; a grandson, Rick (Mary Jo) Weber, Chilton; a great-grandson, David James Weber; two sisters: Agnes Andrews, Hilbert; Rosella Radliff, Milwaukee; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, James Weber; a grandson, David Weber; three sisters: Winifred Hammer, Evelyn Jannsen and Kittabelle Head; two brothers: Michael and Daniel Head. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday May 3, 2000 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton with the Rev. Mike Bigley S.D.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call the Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and again on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. when family prayers will be held. A parish prayer service will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. followed later by an Eagle's Auxiliary service.
