Marcus J. Crain Marcus J. Crain 210 W. Winnebago St., Appleton Age 39, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Theda Clark Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 27, 1961, in Fond du Lac, son of James and Margo (Magana) Crain. Marcus graduated from Neenah High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW-Stevens Point. Marcus was an accomplished musician playing with bands in Madison, Chicago and Los Angeles. He was also a very good artist and he enjoyed painting. Survivors include his parents, James and Margo Crain, Neenah; a sister, Christine Crain, Neenah; a brother, Thomas Crain, Neenah; a niece, Gabrielle Crain, Neenah; aunts and uncles, Mary Schroeder, Fond du Lac; Richard and Helen Crain, Atlanta; Donald and Mickey Crain, Wautoma; Joseph and Virginia Magana, San Antonio, Texas; Mary and Jess Godina, Fond du Lac; Roy and Betty Magana, Fond du Lac; John and Kathleen Magana, Fond du Lac; Teresa Magana, Fond du Lac; Mike and Sharon Magana, Milwaukee; Elaine Magana, Germantown; Natalie Magana, California; Margaret La Point, Oshkosh; Bob and Delores Elmer, Oshkosh; Tony Magana, Michigan; Pat and Celia Magana, Rhode Island; and many, many close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, two uncles, two aunts and four cousins. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret-Mary Catholic Church with Fr. David Koch officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Friends may call Wednesday at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and again on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial is being established in his name. Martin Ebben Martin Ebben Appleton Age 74, died Sunday, April 30, 2000. Martin was born November 11, 1925, to the late William and Gertrude (Linskens) Ebben in the Town of Vandenbroek. He married Betty Bayer, June 25, 1949, at St. Mary's of Menasha. Martin served in the United States Navy during World War II and was retired from the Wisconsin Electric Power Company after 36 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty; a son, Christopher (Margaret) Ebben; a daughter, Gayle Pierce; two grandchildren, Brandon and Kelsey Pierce; two step granddaughters, Tina (Moises) and Tana (Roemie); three brothers, Robert (Gladys) Ebben, Donald (Dorothy) Ebben and James (Maryln) Ebben; a sister, Lucille (Roger) Hietpas; five sisters-in-law, Charlotte DeWidt, Marge (Cy) Berg, Vivian Bayer, Betty Bayer, Catherine Bayer; two brothers-in-law, Karl Minkebige and Cyril Bayer; many nieces and nephews. A Private Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas More with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. In lieu of flowers, a gesture of concern may be made to the St. Thomas More scholarship fund or a charity of one's choice. Oneida St. Appleton 733-7383 Henry Hoffman Henry Hoffman Kaukauna Age 100, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. He was born March 29, 1900, in Kaukauna, son of the late Balthazor and Magdeline (Yingling) Hoffman. On November 22, 1919, Henry married the former Lillian Novak at a chapel in Marinette, they enjoyed 72 years of marriage together prior to her death July 25, 1992. Henry worked at Thilmany's for 42 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club. Henry recently enjoyed his 100th birthday party of 200 friends and family members. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob (Dottie) Hoffman, Carl Hoffman (special friend, Carlene), Ken (Luann) Hoffman, all of Kaukauna; Tuttie Hoffman, Hollandtown; a son-in-law, Larry Whitthun, Appleton; 51 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ceil Whittman, Kaukauna; Helen Taylor, Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three daughters and a son-in-law, Marie (William) Jansen, Dorothy Whitthun, Betty VanSchyndel; a great-grandson, Jim Hoffman; a sister and six brothers. Lennert 1110 Daniel Court, Neenah Age 58, died Monday, May 1, 2000, following a courageous battle with cancer at her daughter's home surrounded by family and friends. She was born July 11, 1941, in Neenah, daughter of Bernard and Marie (Pawlowski) Forsythe. Berni married Robert Lennert May 25, 1963, in Neenah and he preceded her in death September 4, 1984. She was employed as a pattern services technician at the Neenah Foundry Company for 271/2 years and American TV and Appliances for 10 years. She was a member of the Catholic Family Fraternal Organization and a branch board member for the past 10 years. Berni loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved to travel all over with family and friends. Berni enjoyed working and spending time with her co-workers and had many special friends from work, high school and her travels. The last few months were spent traveling with her family. She lived her life to the fullest until the very end. Berni is survived by her mother, Marie Forsythe, Neenah; her daughter, Brenda Castillo, Neenah; her son, Robert (Brandy) Lennert, Wild Rose; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Robert, and Tailor Castillo; Savannah Lennert; a brother, Keith (Dorothy) Forsythe, Neenah; a sister, Marlinda Shukosky, Neenah; numerous nieces and nephews. Wilson) South Milwaukee Formerly of Golden Venture in Kaukauna, died Monday, May 1, 2000, in a South Milwaukee nursing home at the age of 82. Verona was born February 2, 1918, in Stockbridge, daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Holtzer) Wilson. She married Theodore Nabbefeld on May 19, 1945; he preceded her in death in 1967. Verona was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and in her earlier years worked for Fall River Canning Company in Appleton. She is survived by a daughter, Lorna (Richard) Gritton, South Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Donald (Candice) Gritton, Brown Deer; Darrell Gritton, New Berlin; Brenda (Robert) Branski, Oak Creek; two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Wilson, Stockbridge; Norbert (Mary) Wilson, Stockbridge; three sisters, Juanita Wyngaard, Kaukauna; Gladys Verhagen, Appleton; Mabel (Donald) Kassman, Chilton. Thoma was born on June 3, 1910, in Hartford, to the late Henry J. and Catherine (Bauer) Thoma. Reverend Thoma's first religious profession was on July 23, 1931, and his ordination was on June 20, 1937. Survivors include his brother, Eugene (Phyllis) Thoma, and his brother-in-law, Leo Elmore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond; his sister, Evelyn Elmore; his brother, Vincent, and his sister, Rita Koening. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Fr. Vernon Wagner, OFM Cap., officiating.
