Obituaries from The Post Crescent, Appleton Wisconsin Wednesday 03 May 2000 Anthony "Tony" J. Borowski Ogdensburg Age 81, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at the Iola Nursing Home in Iola. He was born May 29, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Anthony and Nettie (Springer) Borowski. He was a veteran of World War II at which time he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tony married Anita E. (Long) Schaafsma on October 10, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She survives. Tony was a swimming coach for many years at Mont Claire - YMCA in Chicago, Michigan Shores Club in Wilmet and most recently at the New London Swim Club. He had a special love for swimming and children and had affected the lives of many, many young people. Survivors include his wife, Anita, Ogdensburg; two sons, Steve Borowski, Kona, Hawaii; Paul Borowski, Tucson, Arizona; sister, Eleanor Wollak, Ogdensburg; five step children, Pat (Dennie) Daniels, Waupaca; Gary (Lou) Miller, Weyauwega; Candyce (Fred) Severson, Ogdensburg; Robert (Beth) Miller, Weyauwega; Irving (Marilyn) Miller, Zittau; 18 grandchildren, three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; a sister, Bernice, and a brother, Edward. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, at First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg with the Reverend Larry Chaney officiating. Friends may call for a memorial visitation on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. A memorial has been established in his name. Tanner Jeffrey Bunker 128 N. Born June 9, 1925, the son of Thomas and Henrietta (Hurley) Garrity. On February 18, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Rebman. He was employed as a Supervisor for American National Can until his retirement in 1984. He was a proud member of the American Legion Wm. Verhagen Post 60, the Quarter Century Club and the Knights of Columbus Club. He is survived by his wife Helen; four sons, Timothy of Rhinelander; Thomas (Beverly), Lawrence (Judy) and Michael (Wendy), all of Appleton; six daughters, Patricia (Gary) Jankowski of Missouri; Elizabeth (Mark) Flora of Minnesota; Mary Sue (Bruce) Siebers of Kimberly; Sarah Decorah of Michigan; Kathleen Scott of Florida and Becky (Gifford) Miller of Appleton; nineteen grandchildren, Rik and Stacy Myhre, Jennifer (Dan) Hanson, Stephanie Garrity, Amanda and Benjamin Garrity, Sharron and Kelly Garrity, Krista and Emily Siebers, Michelle and Benjamin Beaudo, Brad, Lindsey, Allison and Luke Garrity, Nicholas, Marissa and Maxwell Miller; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Jacob and Elizabeth Hanson. He is further survived by one sister, Catherine Kunzer of Illinois and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. She was born March 24, 1922 in Verona, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William and Alva (Richardson) Miller. She graduated from Verona High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she received a degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Tri-Delta Sorority. She married Willard (Bill) Gehrke June 23, 1944. Natalie loved the outdoors, watching birds at backyard feeders, and growing flowers. Her back yard was a haven for birds. She provided food, water and shelter for birds that stayed over winter and anxiously awaited the arrival of migrating species in the spring. She acted as one of the first Trail Guides in the formative stages of the Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Survivors include her husband, Bill; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Gehrke, Appleton; James Gehrke, Lake in the Hills, Illinois; Craig Gehrke and Nancy Olson, Madison; a brother, Keith Miller, Verona; two grandchildren, Alice and William Gehrke, Madison; two sisters-in-law, Alice (Paul) McQuillan, Mission, Texas; Caryl Gehrke, Aberdeen, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 12 noon Friday, May 5, 2000, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Larry Matthews officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
