This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Chuck Miller 10 March 1999 ==================================================================== CARL VICTOR WAHLSTROM was born in the Lerbäck parish of Örebro län (county), Sweden on November 23, 1866 and he was one of seven children born to Jan Anders Andersson (who later changed his name to Wallström) of Lerbäck parish, Örebro län and Mathilda Carlsdotter of Godegård parish, Östergötland län. When he was just about 11, his mother died (November 4, 1877) and then 4 years later, his father remarried (September 30, 1881). After his father's second marriage, Carl went to live in the birthplace of his mother. Carl immigrated to America on June 24, 1887 from the port of Göteborg, with the destination of Lake City, Minnesota (his ticket number was 32:365:2491). His last name in Sweden was Wallström that became Wahlstrom after coming to America. After arriving in Stockholm, Wisconsin, he worked in the lumber camps with his father (who came over in 1884) in the winter and working on his farm during the summer. On July 6, 1895, he married Amelia Lovisa Linder, born in Wisconsin on March 23, 1871 and daughter of Per Erik (Linder (his Americanized name)) Persson and Anna Lovisa Andersdotter. To this marriage, five children were born, Edwin Waldimar; Esther Vicktoria; Ellis Willford; Ellen Violet, wife of Harold Sanborn; and Everet Evangline, wife of Martin Kubes. In 1898, he worked on the railroad as an engineer until his retirement in September 1930. Carl and his wife were members of the Stockholm Covenant Church where he was a member of the male quartet and choir. He served on the village election board and was the president of Stockholm for 5 years (1937-1941). He died on October 12, 1994 in Lake City, Minnesota. At the time of his death, he had been a patient for 2 weeks in the Lake City hospital. He was buried in the Oakwood Cemetery of Stockholm, Wisconsin.
