BIG RIVER PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY (AKA Davison Cemetery) The following was written by Alice Chapman, who inventoried this cemetery: The 1941 Pierce County Plat Book map of Oak Grove Twp. shows the location of the cemetery and is marked "CH CEM". Originally there was a Presbyterian church at this location. If you search carefully in the overgrown grass, weeds and brush, you can locate some of the stones from the church foundation. The cemetery is not visible from the road It is located at the back of the lot separated by a wire fence. This area is overgrown with grass, weeds, prickly bushes and large areas of lily type plants. In places trees are broken down making it almost impossible to get through.Anyone planning to visit this cemetery should do so in the spring before the growth takes over and be dressed for a rough walk. The only record of the cemetery I could locate was the cemetery "Board" (two table leaves hinged together) upon which the 90 grave sites are marked off and labeled as to whom they were sold (not necessarily as to who is buried there). This board is in the possession of Stanley Davison, River Falls, Wi. Some of the gravestones and markers are broken, fallen off their bases and almost buried, or completely missing. Stanley Davison thinks one or more graves have been relocated elsewhere. All, I found a couple of gravestones not listed on the board and others not located as listed. To supplement the information available from the stones, I researched at the Pierce County Court House, the death certificates of every name listed on the board to try to find the names of ones who were buried here. I have also talked to some of the relatives and read some obituaries for further information. All of this is included in this report. * - Denotes information taken from death certificate ** - Denotes information taken from obituary A-B Surname Name Dates Notes ADAMS Daniel - No stone BARRETT J.W. 1837-1907 *John Barrett - age 70 years 3m 13d - Capitalist - b. 23 Apr 1837 - Rock Haben d. 6 Aug 1907 - River Falls, Wi.
