Friends and relatives were shocked last Wednesday when news reached here from Dallas, Texas, telling of the untimely death of Mrs. Carl Schaal in a telegram received here by Mrs. Schaal's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Nelson, Wednesday. It stated that she had passed away and that burial should take place the following day. Nothing further being stated the parents were at a loss to know what had happened to cause her sudden demise. A letter following explained that she had passed away in the Baptist Hospital at Dallas, Texas, from Peritonitis after suffering about two weeks from an attack of appendicitis. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Nelson and known to her many friends as Hulda Nelson, and was married in May, 1914 to Carl Schaal of Minneapolis. She had been a resident of Dallas for about four years and was 31 years, 4 months, and 12 days of age. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Carl Schaal, nee Hulda Gunhild Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Nelson of this place, was born July 16, 1890, in Eaton County, Colo. Came here with her parents when a year old. Attended Clear Lake High School and graduated from the New Era Business College at Superior in 1909. Was married to Carl Schaal at Minneapolis May 23, 1914. Moved to Dallas, Texas and had resided there just four years. Died at Baylor hospital, Dallas, of Peritonitis, November 28, 1924. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Eleanor age 8, and Delma Ann age 6; besides her parents, brothers and sisters. Sincere sympathy is extended the bereaved ones.
