The principle event was a 5:00 dinner, served at the family home at 916 Division Street, to which all the children and their wives and grandchildren were invited. Arthur B. Redfield and Miss. Both have been school teachers and also taught in this county, Mr. Redfield near Jordan and Mrs. Redfield in the district school then maintain for a time in the present residence of Jacob Patch in the Sixth ward then owned by Mr. Bern. They have five children, Mrs. A. F. Wyatt, Mrs. O. Ostrander, John, Alfred E., and Charles E. Redfield. All make their home in this city except Mrs. Ostrander, who is living at Menasha. All were present at the anniversary but John, who has been employed for time in Chicago, and who was unable to get away for this occasion. The marriage was performed in the house at 613 Water Street by Rev. Mr. Turner, then the pastor of the Presbyterian Church. The attendants were Miss. Mercy Vaughn, now Mrs. Jesse Martin, and the late D. E. Catlin. Other guests were the late G.L. Park, and A.P. Vaughn and Judge Sharpstein both of home now reside in Washington. Shortly after the wedding the young couple set up housekeeping at Jordan, where they remained only a short time when the house was burned, as supposed to cover up robbery, as it was believed that the house had been ransacked by sneak thieves in the absence of the family. After the fire they returned to the city. Then Mr. Redfield went to war and served in Co. D of the Fifth infantry from September 3, 1864 to June 28, 1865. On his return he bought the property where he now lives and where the family home has been maintained ever since. Mr. Redfield was 74 years old on March 3 last and Mrs. Redfield will be 68 in August next.
