Obituary: Elizabeth Barker, Portage County, Wisconsin Stevens Point Daily Journal 22 Dec 1927 (p 4) Mrs. Elizabeth Barker Elizabeth Barker, widow of the late Charles Myron Barker of the town of Plover, died at the Mrs. Ira Barker home, 1211 Clark street at 11:10 o’clock Wednesday forenoon, following a serious illness of four months, during which time she underwent an operation for the removal of her gallbladder. The immediate cause of death was paralysis which affected her entire left side two weeks ago today. Mrs. Barker was taken to Marshfield on December 3 and operated upon at the hospital in that city a couple of days later. The operation seemed to provide relief and she showed rapid improvement until paralysis set in the following Thursday. Evidencing a desire to return to Stevens Point, the home her childhood, an ambulance brought her here last Monday. The remains are now at the old home, one and one half miles south east of Plover village, where funeral services will be conducted by Rev. I. E. Mielenz at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, with interment following in Maine cemetery nearby. The deceased was Elizabeth Margaret Gilman and was born in this city 63 years ago today. When she was about twelve years of age the family moved to Plover township, where she was married some 40 years ago to Charles Myron Barker. The husband died four years ago last September leaving the widow and one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Hale of Plover. There are also two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Florence Hale.
