Obituary: Portage County, Wisconsin: Blanche L. Stevens Point Daily Journal, Monday, Feb. 13, 1899 Miss Blanche L. Barnard, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Barnard of 430 Madison street, died Sunday morning at 5 o'clock as the result of bronchial catarrh. Miss Barnard has been in delicate health for a couple of years and was taken out of school some time ago. About Thanksgiving time her case began to take a serious turn and the disease became more and more oppressive until a little over a week ago, when she was forced to her bed. The deceased was born at Shelbyville, Blue Earth county, Minn., on November 4, 1880, but came to this city with her parents on September 1, 1887. She attended the public schools and made a great many very close friends, who now extend to her sorrowing parents their kindliest sympathy. The funeral service will be held at the house at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The body will be taken to Mankato, Minn., for interment in Glenwood cemetery. It will be taken from her on the 1:45 train Wednesday morning and will be accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Barnard and the latter's sister, Mrs. F.L. Hansing of Mankato, who has been here assisting in the care of the deceased since last Wednesday. There will be no services at Mankato. The body is to be taken direct to the cemetery from the train. The services here will be conducted by Rev. J.H. Tippett. ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, 10 June 2004© All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************
