Obituary: Portage County, Wisconsin: Leo BORCHARDT Stevens Point Daily Journal 25 April 1974 Leo BORCHARDT, 86, of Pecos TX, a native of Stevens Point, died in a hospital at Pecos Tuesday morning. He had been in ill health in recent years. Arrangements for funeral services and burial are pending in Pecos. Mr. Borchardt was born here on March 21, 1889, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Borchardt. He attended parochial and public schools here and in 1917 he enlisted in Troop I for service in World War I. He was a cook in a staff headquarters of the American Expeditionary Forces in France. After his discharge, he returned to Stevens Point and for a time was a partner with Andy Klug in the Spot Restaurant on Main St. In 1922 he married Caroline Rutta here. They were divorced later and he went to Florida and then to Pecos in the late 1920s. At Pecos he was in the restaurant business for a period of years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs George (Juanita Marie) Tidquist, Milwaukee; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Borchardt, 109 Georgia St., N., and two sisters; Mrs Wanda Korup and Mrs. Lillian Langen, both of Phoenix, AZ.
