Clipping from Stevens Point Daily Journal 23 May 1903 Submitted by Rick Campen MRS. J. MOULDENHAUER Aged Woman Passes Away in Her Eighty-third Year Mrs. J. Mouldenhauer died at 3 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. August Moerke at 521 Center Street as the result of weakness incident to advanced ago. She was 82 years old on March 13 last, having been born at Sundahl, Prussia, in 1821. She was married in her native land and was the mother of a large family of children. Her husband died in 1860 and shortly afterward she brought her family to this country and settled in Wisconsin, having resided most of the time since then at Auburndale and Wrightstown until her removal to this city a year ago. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Moerke of this city. William Mouldenhauer of Randolph, August Mouldenhauer of Washington state, and Mrs. A. Kotlow of Auburndale. She was also the mother of the late Mrs. August Lang of this city. The deceased was a very active person for a woman of her years and had been sick scarcely a day in her life. Her decline during the past ten days has been vary rapid though there seemed to be no acute disease. The funeral will be held Friday morning. There will be a prayer at the house at 8:30 by Rev. Carl Schmidt, after which the body will be taken to Auburndale on Wisconsin Central train No. 1, leaving here at 9:45 a.m. At Auburndale, the remains will be taken direct from the train to the cemetery, where the commitment will be conducted by the pastor of the local Lutheran church. Those from out of town who are already here to attend the funeral arts F. Moerke of Oshkosh, and F. A. Moerke of Waukesha, grandsons, accompanied by their wives; and William Mouldenhauer of Randolph, a son of the deceased. Mr. August Moerke, who is engaged in building a sawmill In the Southwest, will be unable to be present on account of the distance.
